posted by groovinmahoovin on STG 5/10/04 I have a DAT clone of this show that I got from a tape tree in the fall of '96, and here's the info that came with the recording that provides info about the patching: Recording set-up: *Front of Board* Schoeps CMC6 MK4 (8 feet up on a stand!) > Sonosax Pre-Amp > Sony D10 Pro (modified: digital filters removed) [insert drool here] Recorded @ 48 kHz Tape flaws: During Even Flow there are two static drops; during Daughter 8 seconds are lost because someone kicked the stand (yikes !); just before Yellow Ledbetter a few seconds are lost of EV thanking the Fastbacks because taper had to change batteries. Tape flaw corrections: Mike Hanson and Mike Hertlein dumped Jeff's entire tape, with missing pieces, onto Pro Tools, a digital editing computer program. They then dumped parts of Mike Hanson's master (Core Sound Binaural Battery Box Version > Sony D8) onto Pro Tools. They matched up the pieces of Mike's tape that needed to be inserted into Jeff's recording. They tinkered with entry and exit points, EQ'ed the pieces of Mike's recording to match Jeff's as much as possible and then dumped the finished product to DAT to give you what will be the final tree seed. There was no EQ'ing done to Jeff's recording. This process eliminated the flaws during Daughter and before Yellow Ledbetter. Total running time is 2:00.40 (Mike and Mike also put a cross-fade in, cutting intermission time down to about 10 seconds -- this is totally seamless and served the purpose as to squeeze this show onto a 60 meter DAT). Nice job guys -- the 90 meter aversive thank you. |
