Comments when originally seeded at STG April 2004 jfm: ...i think it's soundboard source: crowd noise is barely audible; voice, guitars and percussions sounds too clear to be recorded with microphones (also harmonics are audible!!!). Even if i'm not so practical in sound recording, i think it's soundboard sourced...don't you think? Hawk: If this is a soundboard the engineer/op should be shot. I'm not saying that this is a bad recording but I seriously can't see it coming from the board. Maybe the original seeder could fill us in on the details of this? AsYd: This is definitely one of the toughest shows to distinguish aud/sbd that i have ever heard. the only thing making me not say AUD outright is the complete lack of any crowd noise. And, the only thing making me not say SBD outright is the not-so-great mix and the way some of the tones reverberate. All in all though, i think id hafta say its an audience recording. But who knows, thats just my opinion, i could be wrong. sdezz: This is definitely a tough call. Perhaps its a matrix. The tones are real clear but it doesen't sound like a pure sbd. If it's an AUD, its one of the best I've ever heard. Regardless, it sounds great and THANK YOU!! darthvedder: I've compared this to the audience sources that I have, and they don't have the guitar separation that this source does. This leads me to believe it's soundboard, but it definitely could use some dEQ work. upperdecker: no audience tape i've heard has this type of instrument separation. i'd have to say that it's been filtered, but it's from a sbd source. sam76: This is truly a soundboard source. I agree to say it's been filtered or altered but since it has never surfaced before I'd like to know where this is coming from. Preston70 you have any clue? akoostik: It's a sbd with some poor noise reduction made via software assistance. The artifacts left are minimal but the result certainly left is flat and hollow. I bet the cassette with a bit of hiss would sound much better than a home grown "digitally remastered" version! |
