Hello!
I'm the one who taped the Bologna show, and
one track from my tapewas used for the promo "Come calling".
With my wife, we drove 200 miles from Torino,
arriving quite early to the venue in Bologna, a very
nice 500 years old square surrounded by ancient buildings.
The band was there, and I asked Margo
the permission to tape the show with my DAT. She agreed,
so I sat in the first row and made the recording.
The show indeed was fantastic, say for the wonderful
artistic and historical venue, say for the audience,
which listened with incredible attention and competence
to every note.
At the end, Margo told me to send them a copy of the tape,
as she really felt that was one of their best performances
(indeed, I had seen them in Torino too, and you can't compare
the two shows!).
The tape came pretty well, thus I went to a mastering studio
near to Milan - I had worked to several other projects there -
where I spent one whole day working the original DAT with
Sonic Solutions software, eq'ing, filtering (Margo!!! your "S"
is terrible!!! I went mad trying to reduce it without interference
with the balance of the sounds! finally, we dropped away the
frequencies between 6100 and 6300 Hz with good results), and
the final master was very good, considering it's audience and
there were the ancient houses around us to make some echo.
