is the shn in the lineage a typo? no one has the shn filesets in their list and the next night seems to be same lineage but is listed as flac. Also, both checksums above are for the flac files. Can this be cleared up, with certainty, by anyone? |

I'm sure its a typo, SHN doesn't support 48k WAV compression. Terry |

03/14/2007 | strato | SHN does support 16/48 WAV compression. Look at the text files of Phish dankseeds that were recorded at 48kHz. They say "48kHz SHNs available upon request for archival." To test it, I upsampled a 16/44.1 WAV to 16/48 and then compressed to SHN with MKWact. It worked, and I played the SHN back with Winamp and it sounded fine. I then upsampled the 16/44.1 WAV to 16/96 and then compressed to SHN with MKWact. It worked and sounded fine in Winamp. I didn't try 16/192 but I assume it works too. When I tried the same thing with a 24/96 WAV, MKWact reported an error that this wasn't supported. SHN doesn't support 24 bit. |
