12/04/2002 | RussEasby | The text file says its an audience (unknown mics) and the SHN Entry Comments says its a SBD, so um which is it?
09/08/2003 | Chris L. |
Original SHN's had sector boundary errors on every track along with extra chunks. Performing a SHNTOOL FIX on these files, grouped by set, and re-encoding to seekable SHN resulted in the following md5 signature: eb95888e251d281d283952e9aeb2e5de *gd91-08-17d1t01.shn 4622fd8a0ac71edaebeadb2d3d3b1a27 *gd91-08-17d1t02.shn d9f04ebf309afca6126e9b947038214a *gd91-08-17d1t03.shn 99f81b010b41cff92e84d8d7e5d7b976 *gd91-08-17d1t04.shn 6ecdaddb745c372634d613f142f2c3a1 *gd91-08-17d1t05.shn 315331420f82988c24b618d9737ebf4c *gd91-08-17d1t06.shn a81bdd49d9fa94807fde29a9ce70783d *gd91-08-17d1t07.shn 7f6b9aeefb1fdc769b9ca0d1ffcb24b7 *gd91-08-17d1t08.shn 332ee05253fe87521817c46b4c60a2dd *gd91-08-17d1t09.shn 53aeb1b1433d8b15161c9e60c780c478 *gd91-08-17d1t10.shn 4687bbed9854fb22153113c73435b7ae *gd91-08-17d2t01.shn 0f422a9c77ac083e7936dd3bdbff5ba5 *gd91-08-17d2t02.shn 5b3623c14354ad852b7d6408c38bdda4 *gd91-08-17d2t03.shn cc287801b7008ea865a76620197483c5 *gd91-08-17d2t04.shn 46bc6cc0f8ca0e54b7e8c0b5a93b945a *gd91-08-17d2t05.shn 98986add20f7287389820cb7b87b5e44 *gd91-08-17d2t06.shn e24b3cbbd13ca7b4a8cd6fd5b0acf479 *gd91-08-17d2t07.shn 04d675f1c8fdf80cfe0c5ec0fcf8339b *gd91-08-17d2t08.shn 610a91ba790456675dedc6dd46032f2d *gd91-08-17d2t09.shn |

I know that its too late now, but isn't "interesting" a relative term, that what you find "uninteresting" others may find very "interesting"??? With this in mind, why cut out the space between songs... The show did NOT occur that way, why burn it that way??? And no, to fit onto 1 (or 2 CDRs) is not a good arguement since blanks are now dirt cheap... Terry |

Cost of blanks aside, it's a pain to have to switch CDs in the middle of a set when the whole set can fit on one by deleting nothing more than blank space with no music or even tuning or talking. I listen mostly on headphones or in my car, so I do not have a multi-disc changer available. I have no problem with this practice as long as no music, tuning, or band chatter is missing. I will never, ever circulate shows like this, but for my personal use, I routinely go so far as to even cut out segments of Drums or Space to fit a set II on one CD. |

Yeah discs are cheaper, so what? Unless there's some interesting banter or tuning going on, why would I want a track full on nothing? Just because the show went that way doesn't mean I have to waste my time listening to the "way the show was". It's ludicrous for me to have to wait for Garcia to finish his cigarette just so I can have the "complete" show. My .02 anyway. |

09/08/2003 | I'll take the way it actually went down with all the extra stuff. Isn't that the point of archiving live recordings?
09/09/2003 | Brian B. | Well,Terry I wouldn't qualify it like that, your comments were warranted. If they want to cut the space out or tunings, they should do it for their selves. I totally agree with leaving it the way it went down, period. |
