Subject: Important source info for 6-22-94!

Hi Mike.  I just want to let you know that your Phish 6-22-94 is from a
noise reduced analog source.  The only reason I know is because I am the
one who did it 3 years ago.  When I first got my burner it was the best analog
I had (and a killer show taboot) so I tossed it into cool edit, did some
noise reduction and burned it to CD..  I gave a copy of the CDs to ONE
person and shortly thereafter I started seeing more and more people with
the same thing.  I'm only telling you this so you can properly label it.  The
reason I know yours is from the analog source is this:

Open up track 15 of the second disc in cool edit or any other sound
program that has a spectral view.
View it in spectral view.

Observe the crude change in noise reduction level at 3min 6sec, and the
nasty A>D 16khz tone my old soundcard liked to introduce..
I know you'd never trade or even give out MP3 discs, but this is a perfect
example of why inferior copies (when there is a pure digital source
available) should never be traded/exchanged anything on CD..  I gave this
to only one person (it was the person who B&P'd me the tapes of the show)
and now it's all over the place.. So if you see anyone say "It's okay to
trade mp3 discs as long as they are properly labeled" you now have a
perfect example as to why it is not.. :D

By the way, there was no PCP, ETree or guidelines for CDR trading when I
did this.. I'd NEVER do something like this now, and am pissed at myself
(and shocked how far it has gone out) for doing it then.. Mainly because I
want a pure copy of this show so bad, and every time I think I've found
one, it turns out to be mine.. :D

PS: If you could send an announcement to the list, (forwarding this would
be fine with me) I'd really appreciate it, so that anyone else with it
could also cease the trading on this version. (It's time to find a true
digital clone of this incredible show to do it the justice it deserves)

08/28/2001 carlivar This may be noise-reduced and not in line with normal etree source policies, but it sounds GREAT. Also set two is just complete insanity. This is a must-have show for any Phish collection.
