This is the first digital transfer of this master.

Apparently if you went to this show you were told at the door that the ARU's vehicle (van, Winebago, whatever, likely NOT a tour bus) had broken down & that they would probably not play.  If you chose to stay you could listen to the opening band & perhaps a jam session would follow.  Maybe the ARU would arrive.  They arrived late & played the show.
When Fierce (the taper) asked for a SBD patch, the engineer told him yes, if he had an extra cassette for the engineer to use.  So, handing over a tape, he got patched out of the deck the sound engineer was using.  The only down side to this story is that the extra tape was a 110 min. and Fierce's tape was 100 mins.  Where this matters is at the end of Basically Frightened the 110 min. tape ran out & didn't get flipped for a couple minutes.  Payday fades in as the engineer starts his B-side.  At the end of the 110 min. tape, the bass solo cuts & that's all that exists.

The first few minutes of this recording make it obvious that no soundcheck was possible.  By about 8 minutes in most of the bugs are worked out & it's an excellent SBD recording.

HUGE thanks to Fierce for hanging out that night & taping the show, & for the masters used for this transfer!!!
