Ambient Recording
Mike French - tdarian - John Corso
Tapers From Hell - A Journey to the Impact Zone
Sennheiser MKE2002 HRTF -> _*Sony WM-D6C_ -> Sony WM-D6C
From the first table to the left of the center line, about 5' from the stage(?) Close to stagelip.
This is an old WWII era ballroom with very low ceilings (7'), and a raised ceiling area in front of the stage (9') (it has since burned to the ground).
We were within the raised ceiling area - upfront.
These are the "Down in Front Tapes", as I was standing, as an HRTF mic stand (the Mike Stand). This was due to a really noisy gal that was next to me. She was smacking her dentures, yammering on, hog calling, you name it. So I looked to tdarian, and John, and got the nod, and I stood up, and caught flack for it from behind -> DOWN IN FRONT.
Hopefully all these years later, people will appreciate my standing, and not sitting closer to the loud noise-maker. The music drowns her out.

From Mike (Stand)French:
11-28-87 would be the date. This was billed as Go Ahead w/ Bob Weir, not the Midnites.
Sennheiser MKE2002 omni's HRTF > Sony WM-D6C "B"n.r.
Mics in hair, over either ear, pointed forward.... HRTF (Head Reference Transfer Function)
I was at the stage lip, FOB/DFC, in stealth mode. My friend Tom D. was controlling the tape decks.
Transfer was via master deck D6C "B" n.r. > Tascam DA-20mkII DAT 48k sample > Tascam CDRW 700 Hardware transfer
The way to tell if this is this show is that people were yelling at me quite a bit to sit down as I was standing directly in the center at the stage lip.
I'm a big guy, and take up considerable view. I held my ground and pissed a lot of people off. So you here SIT DOWN..!!!, Down in front......... etc.
Another note on the mics....
They are set up similar to a doctors stethoscope. The mics are connected by a plastic bridge that is "U" shaped and the mic caps are at the ends of the "U" pointed up or forward.
The "U" goes around the back of my head, which puts the mics over either ear, pointed forward.
