This one's for my friend Humbug, a true fan whose encouragement, friendship (and excellent Crowes' recordings) are the reason I didn't stay at home in Scotland, sulking cos the band only played in London :-D Setlist with thanks to: www.crowesbase.com/ Song lyrics checked at: www.lyricsmania.com/ Help needed to identify the extras/jams added to several songs. Buy the Black Crowes' excellent new album "Warpaint" everywhere including their official store linked to : www.blackcrowes.com/ which also has the album streaming. www.myspace.com/theblackcrowes Recorded, converted and seeded by Evangeline No selling in any form; distribute freely in lossless formats. Convert to MP3s only for your own use. Aud->SP-CMC-8s->(plug-in-power)->Edirol R09(16bit 44.1Khz, gain +12) USB transfer to pc->Nero Wave Editor(volume boost, edit, fades) ->CDWave(split)->Flac sector 8, sector boundaries aligned. Flacs tested and ffps created using Traders' Little Helper. Recorded standing behind a (partial) barrier about 15 m from the stage, opposite the high speaker by stage L, mics turned upwards. Sound notes : Big, quite bass-heavy, saturated sound. Kick-drum too high in the mix during the first couple of songs. The band were complemented by two lady backing singers, who contributed a great deal to the wonderful gospel feel of some songs. Sometimes I stuggled to hear Chris Robinson's voice above the massed instruments and voices. Some chat can be heard during quiet parts. Fortunately, you can't hear the pairs of security men passing just in front of me, to track down several folk having a quiet smoke. They hadn't realised they were being watched from the balcony. The gig was totally smoking (even if the audience wasn't allowed to be) It was my first time seeing the band; they surpassed my expectations, and eased my worry that the line-up changes might have curtailed their style; the new members added a great deal to the music. The set included guitars, keyboards, harmonica and drum solos - 70s rock heaven ;-) Lots of very fine guitar playing, wonderful keyboards, a great rhythm section and Chris Robinson's vocals were amazing - he was flying. He played a mean harp too. |
