Sound is nice Performance is not This is my first review of a GD show, if I ruffle some feathers I am sorry in advance, but I believe in being honest. I am not the world's foremost expert on GD concerts, but I can honestly say that this show is a real bomb! When I say bomb I don't mean Phil-bombs emitting from Lesh's rig. Jerry's voice is weak (did he have laryngitis?) The only highlight of set 1 is "Box". Set 2 is no different, Jerry really tries to sing but falls flat. IMO "Gimme Some Lovin'" is the best overall moment in set 2 This one is for completists only-or people like me who need to have every Hartford show in their collection. |

Yeah man you are 100% correct. Jerry definitely had laryngitis. I did Hampton through Hartford that spring and Jerry got sick between the end of the Meadowlands/beginning of Hartford. His voice got progressively worse as the 4/3 show wore on. I will always remember Jerry kicking his microphone stand at the end of Black Peter when his voice totally gave out. You have to hand it to Jer for sticking it out though- most performers wouldve cancelled. |
