Between completing my PhD, fishing/hunting and other redneck activities, and the fact that I never turn down B&Ps, my time is limited. Just be patient, it'll all work out fine folks! KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU TRADE WITH ME IT MAY TAKE A MONTH TO GET YOUR SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Folks have a hard time getting this for some reason. So, if your in a hurry DONT ASK ME FOR A TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all! What you see is a partial list of a bunch of stuff I have laying around. Sooner or later I'll get around to posting it all. As I get older, I become a more stringent live taper, but my organization at home gets worse and worse! I welcome any and all trades, provided I have the time to complete them. All the usual "rules" apply, I guess...DAO...etc.

As for as grading AUD tapes, I realize this is a very subjective thing, but I enjoy rating them. Here are some of the criteria I consider:
1. Imaging - Is there a sense of the stereo image? Can you place the musician's locations? Is the recording centered or shifted?

2. Presence - How "far away" do things sound? If the mic stand was 15 feet away, does it sound like it was 15 feet away? This is why I hate MBHO mics! They lack any sort of realistic presence (to me). Just so you know, If a recording sounds too distant, I will lower its grade. I know ppl disagree with this, but location is key folks. I dont care if you used your Schemps -> V3 -> Nagra, trust-fund rig. If the section is in the back of the lawn, you tape is gonna sound like shit.

3. Frequency Definition - Are all frequencies equally defined or do the blend in together? Is the recording "grainy"? I also consider the H/L/M/Frequencies. This is very subjective, but I try to judge whether or not all Fs are being equally represnted (= higher grad). Keep in mind I have lost my access to the electrostatics at my old job, so I dont have the ability to judge in as much detail these days.

4. Anomalies - This is tricky. Anomalies include: Crowd noise, clicks, pops, digi-noise, stand bumps, overs, a newbie taper messing with levels, etc. If a tape smokes and has some pops and clicks, chances are I??ll rate it high. If the anomalies dominate the tape, grades start to drop.

5. Performance ??I try hard not to let the quality of the musician??s performance effect my grading. However, performances that are incredible do effect how one hears things. I try to keep this in mind.

Side note: The oppositie of 5 can happen...i.e 5-8-77 the Dead. That show sucks ass performance wise, but folks hear the high quality and assume the performance was good.

What does all this crap mean? That I will on average grade lower than most folks.
