Telluride, CO
1 shn 697mb A+ B TLM103 > mp2 > adc20 > dat > za2 > cdr; Compilation: boogie@dubious.com (07/22/2002) Persistent crowd noise through the entire show. Affects WIDOW OF A LIVING MAN / WAITING ON AN ANGEL more than others. Great version of MAMA'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND NOW and the precussion on BURN ONE DOWN / WITH MY OWN TWO HANDS sound exceptionally good. When the electric guitars kick in during THE WOMAN IN YOU the instrumental levels become a bit over bearing and consequently the vocals are drowned. The crowd is more restrained during the premiere of WHEN IT'S GOOD making it the best sounding track of the show.

Bonnaroo Music Festival (What Stage)

1 shn 377mb A- unknown Steal My Kisses: very loud mike bump at 2:40. Some crowd chatter can be heard over With My Own Two Hands and a few othe quieter passages in the music

Alpine Valley Music Theatre
East Troy, WI
1 audio A A Schoeps CMC6/MK21 caps>V2>AD2K>digital patchbay>D8 This is a great recording. Low crowd noise; only on a few occassions individual murmuring can be heard. Volume levels are great; no bass distortion or sibilance. But there seems to be slight hint of editing between STEAL MY KISSES and PLEASURE AND PAIN where the crowd noise is not seemless.

1 audio B+ I have managed to remove most of the pops in RAIN KING and ANNA BEGINGS using soundforge [simly deleted them - most deleted segments were < 0.001sec - no additional audible pops were introduced..... but beware I am no expert... its good enough for me]. There are still pops @ 4:48 of LIGHTNING as the track fades out and 3:20 of WERE ONLY LOVE which I could not "see" in the waveform and therefore could not remove.

RAIN KING @2:12-> skip; OMAHA @0:42-> some sort of crackling sound; PERFECT BLUE BUILDINGS @0:03-> minor pop; A MURDER OF ONE @0:04 -> minor pop and CARAVAN @6:05 (this is during interaction with the crowd)-> pop.

1 audio A+ A I recieved the show with a few annoying clicks. I have removed some and minimized the others. REMOVED: Anna Begins @3:38; Children in Bloom @ 1:03; Round Here @ 2:23; and Rain King @ 1:24. There are still slight drop-outs at the boundaries of track 7&8 and 13&14. I am not sure whether all copies suffered from these clicks.

03/16/94

Whiskey-A-Go-Go
Los Angeles, CA
1 audio B+ Audience DAT? Vocals, guitars and the treble are pristine but there is some bass boom. The bass problem improves after the first few songs. My copy is unlikely to be SBD sourced as one can hear loud individual screams and low level murmurings throughout the show. This is one of those shows where Adam almost talks through the verses of some of the songs. eg. Perfect Blue Buildings, Round Here. MURDER OF ONE includes HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY alt.

03/17/94

Roxy
Los Angeles, CA
1 audio B+ audience DAT? The first 3:40 of the first track is a song by some other artist before Round Here begins. there is some sound level adjustments for the next two minute. The bass problem is similar to that of the 03/16/1994 show. Little bit more crowd noise than the previous night's recording. I think Magery contains alternative lyrics...its a better version than the 16th.

04/15/94

1 cdr/audio B+ Alternate Name: Adam the Untouchable, Poetic Justice. A very good recording, certainly one of the better CC bootlegs:the band seems very laid back and perform slow brooding versions of of most songs. Version:2 source suffers from significant distortion through out the show (grade C+). The version:1 sounds much better (grade A-). I have dEQed version:1 to raise the level in the left channel and tightend some bass and precussion segments. The dEQed source is thus: [DSM-6SM -> Sharp MT-877 -> ?? -> .shn -> .wav -> dEQ -> .shn]

There is a fair bit of bass boom and the instrumental mix is a little muddy. Lots of crowd noise. Track 7 (MR.JONES):a dip in recording level between 2:59>3:16 also fades out at the end. Track 8 (AMERICAN GIRLS): UP TO 0:29 mark the volume is great which then dips. Track 9 (A LONG DECEMBER): is the best recorded track apart from the screaming women. 1 flac 474mb A B Sony MZR55 -> StandAlone CDR -> EAC -> SoundForge -> SHN? >flac Overall the the crowd noise is fairly high in the mix. Although this sounds great add to the atmosphere when they sing/clap along eg. on OMAHA; it becomes a bit annoying when individual conversations can be heard during the songs. MRS. POTTER'S LULLABYE: the bass is very muffled, the treble splashy (Quality= C+); thereafter the sound improves> the bass tightens and the treble becomes a little sweeter, vocals and guitars are clear throughout (Quality = B). MIAMI: sounds great but is spoiled by a conversation near the recorder. CATAPAULT: the treble is fairly splashy again. GOODNIGHT LA: a great version, the crowd behaves for the most part, few screams, the taper or someone nearby seems to fumble with equipment nearby. START AGAIN (Teenage Fan Club cover); one of the better recorded tracks, the show is worth getting for this alone! SULLIVAN STREET: some MD fumbling during the song.

The crowd noise is a bit high in the mix, most evident during the quieter passages of RUNNING OUT OF TIME and DRIVEN TO TEARS. The performance of WISHLIST must be one of the most lifeless I have heard. The show has the following flaws: WATCH OUTSIDE-> distortion between 0:10 to 1:15; there is also a slight hint of static at each track boundary.

1 audio (2 Sources Mix: bootleg CD: 'Attenzione' (sourced from FM) + RELEASE, BLACK & DEEP from unknown recorder (1st gen) > DAT > (Remastered w/ Realtime Sound Processor Complete show including RELEASE, BLACK and DEEP(Quality C-): the recording level is significantly lower than the rest of the show and lots of crowd noise. Rest of the show (B-)Sounds very much like a transmission over a cheap radio, negligible bass depth and a fair amount of sibilance.2:42 into EVEN FLOW the recording level rises and stays at this level for the rest of the show. 1 shn 450mb C UM>UR: tape (analog) > wav > cdr > wav > shn As noted by others there is a continuous screeching sound through out the recording...similar to mic feedback. Audience conversations may be heard during most songs. Sounds very clean for an analogue source...may have been dEQed somewhere along the line. Track 2: ONCE > there is a rise in rec level @ 0:23-0:27, Track 3: WHY GO > momentary rise in rec level @3:05; Track 5: DEEP > glitch @ 4:34 (after the end of the song); Track 6: ALIVE > increase in rec level @ 0:21-1:13; Track 7: BLACK > a loud audience voice @ 1:09 and 1:19-1:20, dip in volume @ 4:31-4:34. Track 9: EVEN FLOW > the sound changes @4:48 (after the end of the song)...almost as if it is a different source with lot less crowd noise. The sound continues like this into Track 10: PORCH > loud crowd voice @4:05, dip in volume @ 5:30, the volume stays low until 0:20 of GARDEN (Track 11), cut @ 7:38-7:39 and 7:46-7:47 both after the end of the song. GARDEN > dip in volume @ 1:14-1:30; Track 11: RITFW > volume dips @ 3:10 and remains at that level to the end.

This is definately preferable to lots of bass distortion. EVENFLOW: vocal level fluctuates throughout, precussion too high in the mix, guitars drowned. DEEP, ALIVE and BLACK sound great. LEASH: deeper low end, vocal level drops btn 1:40 and 1:50; right channel level dips btn 2:57 > 3:14. ONCE and PORCH also sound great.

BREATH: mic level drops @ 2:24-2:30, static/intf @ 4:10-4:11 and 4:43-4:44; EVEN FLOW: stat/intf @ 0:22-0:27, sounds some lyrics and beats missing @ 3:56, sudden end to the track @ 4:11, some riffs of ALIVE played before SWEET EMOTION is sung by Eddie then full version of ALIVE begins. 2 audio B+ Core Sounds (15th row center) > Sony TCD-D7 > dEQ > CD Disc-1: This recording does not have I ONLY PLAY FOR MONEY as listed in the show details. Pre-Show>ACT OF LOVE: some level adjustment in the first few seconds. There is a tiny gap between this song and the main PJ set. Rest of the PJ set plays seemlessly. Disc-2: there is a small gap between track 6 (BLOOD) and track 7 (STAR BOY).i am not familier with STAR BOY but it sounds as though the first few seconds are missing. Track 7 begings with "Executive With His Pants Down....". there is no music preceeding this lyric. Track 9: BETTERMAN> rec level drops between 4:05-4:14, probably to minimise the screaming by an idiot. Track 10: PORCH> a bit of chatter can be heard, specially towards the end (5:48 onwards), but the music level is sufficiently high to mask it.

2 audio B+ Countryman Isomax II > Sony TCD-D7 > DAT > CDR The mix is a little on the bright side but it is consistent through out the show so tone controls should do the trick. Individual screams and claps can be heard during Sometimes @ 2:50-3:00 and at the begining of Black but is not too great a distraction. Fade ins and fade-outs are not gradual: done in three distinct steps.

For most part vocals, drums and guitars are clear however low bass is a bit boomy and the high treble a bit splashy. Bass boom is noticiable in the softer songs such as Black. The mix is just about right in Yellow Ledbetter. Fuckin Up: @ 2:30 there is dropout of low frequencies. MFC: drop out @1:25 > 1:26. Nothingman: glitch @ 1:41

OFF HE GOES: drop out @2:32, GO: drop-out at the end of the song @2:04. DO THE EVOLUTION: suffers from repeated tape speed fluctuations through-out. This continues up the second minute of JEREMY.

1 shn 320mb B+ Schoeps Front of board > DAT > digital transfer to standalone burner > cdr clone > Exact Audio Copy > Cool Edit Pro The bass is a bit boomy but there is no distortion. Apart from that this is a great recording with wonderful treble and mid range detail. 1:20 into SLEEPWALKER the gain is increased by the taper. On a few songs there is some low level crowd noise.
