Introductory Remarks By Duke Ellington The Clown Mingus Interview
The Duke Ellington Orchestra. This is the only recorded “collaboration” between Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus apart from the “Money Jungle” album. The recording is Duke playing and narrating “The Clown”. Mingus was supposed to conduct Ellington’s orchestra, but chickened out, hiding on the balcony.
