It's the end of the road...
Here we have three concerts from 1966, the first being Munich. It's presented here in pristine quality, and while not the guys' best performance it makes a nice bookend to their live career which started in earnest in Germany some six years before.
The 'dark suits' Budokan concert has been reconstructed here out of two tapes. The complete show was issued on laserdisc in Japan and is commonly booted on dvd. However the LD was spoiled to some degree by smearing and ghosting on dark scenes (profile shots of John are particularly bad). For this reason I've replaced most of the video with a vhs source which is of similar quality but without the smearing. The 'light suits' concert is of comparable video quality and has the audio resynched from cd source. This is a much better performance from The Beatles, although the vocals sound a bit distant.
We leave you with a bonus track: John's brief but hilarious contribution to Not Only But Also in late '66. The sudden appearance of the granny glasses marked the beginning of a new era and the end of the old Beatles. From now on they would continue to record promo videos and special events, but the days of Thank Your Lucky Stars, Big Night Out and Ready Steady Go were gone forever. Their various promo films made between 1966 and 1970 can be found on the Unsurpassed Promos series.
Also included in this torrent is a patch file for Disc 4, which corrects some innadvertant visual faults in the Dutch tv appearance. Follow the instructions attached.
Thanks to all who contributed to this series... you know who you are! And remember: no charge money for these discs. They are intended to be free. Lend them, swap them, give them away as Chrimble presents or post them at random to complete strangers. Just don't sell 'em. And if some of these programmes should one day make it onto an official dvd, show your support and buy a copy.
All the best,
Hobs Apes and Jones

And so to the conclusion of The Beatles as a performing group
(although some might argue the end really came a year or more earlier)
– all the circulating shows from their final tour of the U.S.A.
While this may be a delight for completists, the last show at San
Francisco is the only decent sounding recording here (and not such a
bad performance either, relatively speaking). Also of note is the
'cherry bomb' explosion heard halfway through "If I Needed Someone"
from the Memphis evening show. Otherwise it's slim pickings, pop
pickers.
We've done our best to make everything sound as good as possible -
speed correction, a little eq, and more (but never any compression or
noise reduction!) We even used a source for the San Francisco show
without the digital reverb appearing on most releases of this concert.
It's not all that pretty, but this is it – the end of The Beatles
live.
