Moonlight in Vermont Drum Boogie Honeysuckle Rose ala Anita Caravan Take the A Train The Shadow of Your Smile Big Noise from Winnetka Alligator Crawl featuring Dill Jones
Professionally recorded and not listed in any discography, this tremendous, hour-long performance by the Jazz Quartet - Gene, Eddie Shu, Dill Jones and Benny Moten - was recorded at the Evansville Jazz Festival on November 6, 1966. It makes you wonder why Krupa retired a year later. He was never better, and this is the Quartet at it's absolute height. This version of "Drum Boogie" is equal, in its own way, to anything Gene ever did. Eddie Shu's feature on "The Shadow of Your Smile," never commercially recorded by Gene, is ample evidence that Shu was one of the unsung giants.
