Come Downstairs & Say Hello
Night One of Guster's 2nd Annual On The Ocean weekend kicked off with a concert at the State Theatre. Attendees were asked to write song requests on ping pong balls as they entered the show, which were later thrown on stage at the end of "Airport Song" for the band to choose from to create a unique setlist.
* Caroline Rose opened.
+ Fan requests made via ping-pong balls thrown on stage. Timothy Leary came courtesy of a Gusterrhoids-led campaign to get the song played.
^ Ryan's guitar was not tuned properly and while waiting for the tech to do this he launched into an impromptu song and dance on stage. It seemed to take way too long so the guys decided to continue on in the setlist and circled back to "That’s No Way To Get To Heaven" later in the set.
% with Brian Graham (saxophone), Jamie Colpoys (trombone) and Emma Stanley (trumpet) of The Fogcutters.
# with Andy Happel (Thanks to Gravity) on violin played around one microphone.
& While Ryan was talking about what song to play next, my husband threw our ping-pong ball with the request for "(Nothing But) Flowers" directly at him. He caught it and commented that "it would be a disaster."
$ with Jamie on trombone and Emma on trumpet.

Jesus On The Radio > Win One For The Sea Dogs!
This was a 9:30 am free acoustic show outside Hadlock Field prior to the start of the Portland Sea Dog's baseball game. This pop-up show was part of the 2nd Annual On The Ocean weekend of events in Portland, ME. The show was announced via the band's social media at 7:30 am that morning. About 75 fans showed up. Immediately following this the band played catch with fans on the field and then threw out the first pitch.
Adam mentions during at the start of the show that he woke up at 9 am. He was the last to arrive and was shooed out of the parking lot next to the stadium by security as it was reserved for handicapped parking. He tried to tell them that he was with the band, but they made him move anyway.
Ryan asks the crowd if anyone else is wearing a t-shirt with names of songs they haven't played yet this weekend (several fans were wearing Rise and Shine t-shirts in the crowd). Brian was wearing a Jesus on the Radio t-shirt and that's the song they ended their set with.
