Waterfront Blues Festival
Tom McCall Waterfront Park
Portland, OR.
July 2, 2005
Recorded from KBOO FM, a local all volunteer radio station. There is some inherent reception problems scattered throughout these recordings. The station is not very powerful and the team had some problems on the first day of the festival getting everything "plugged in". All in all some great music with a few tolerable "blurps".

Reggie Houston's Earth Island Band
New Orleans saxophone ace Reggie Houston relocated to Portland last fall, a move he calls "one of the best decisions I've ever made. Portland had everything I was looking for." Houston and his new Earth Island Band, featuring Portland pianist D.K. Stewart, bassist Gary Fontaine, and drummer Reinhardt Melz, serve up Crescent City funk, blues and hard-grooving fun.
Houston, a second-generation New Orleans musician, studied with Crescent City legends Edward "Kid" Jordan and Alvin Batiste before graduating to steady gigs with such greats as Irma Thomas, Fats Domino and Charmaine Neville. Reggie has also recently recorded with Buffy Saint-Marie and Peter Gabriel.
