Dave Matthews Band - "Tripping Billies" Long before the Dave Matthews Band hit the charts, Boulder was a hot spot for them to perform. Naturally, KBCO was exposing this music even before the major record label deal was cut. Dave and his band mate Boyd Tinsley gave us a rare sample of the music that would soon wins fans everywhere. KBCO listeners were there first! Better Than Ezra - "In The Blood" KBCO midday jock Nathan Perry had seen this Louisiana based trio open for bands in tiny clubs in Baton Rouge years ago. It was homecoming in Studio C as he played host to this remarkable acoustic session which featured songs from the band's enormously successful debut CD. Sarah McLachlan - "Good Enough" "What is it about Colorado?" Sarah asked as she made her second Studio C visit in less than a year. Colorado has proven to be among the most supportive areas for this budding Canadian singer. Sarah let her hair down for an intimate afternoon session before her two sold out shows at the Paramount Theatre. Del Amitri - "Driving With The Brakes On" Del Amitri has been a favorite of KBCO listeners for years. The band returned to Studio C in celebration of their most successful album ever. After this casual afternoon session, they were off to the Fox Theatre for two sold out shows. Big Head Todd and The Monsters - "Angel Leads Me On" Many KBCO artists make return visits to Studio C. When discussion was made of how to repeat artists on our charity disks, it became clear that our commitment to local music would be the catalyst. We began our tradition of including local music on the Studio C CD this Boulder based legend. They appeared on Studio C Volume One. We are honored to have them back as the first ever repeat charity CD series. This recording was made just before the infamous New Years Eve show at the Paramount Theatre. Counting Crows - "Ghost In You" This song stands as the most famous Studio C recording ever after it appeared on the soundtrack for the recent film "Clueless". The recording was made weeks before the Counting Crows debut CD was released so KBCO listeners had never heard this band before. This recording has also appeared as an extra track on the CD single for "Round Here". Look how far they have come since the humble beginnings in Studio C! Samples - "As Tears Fall" Samples appear as one of two Boulder based acts to be the first ever repeat artists for this charity CD series. We are proud to share this session recorded shortly after the band signed a major record deal with MCA. Support local music! Willy Porter - "Angry Words" Recorded August 28,1995 Joan Osborne - "St. Teresa" It took one listen to this incredible song to know that Joan Osborne would be a huge KBCO artist. It wasn't long before everyone would know about this remarkable singer. Joan closed her eyes and seemed to work herself into a trance as she let us have it. Powerful stuff! Stephen Bruton with Delbert McClinton and Sonny Landreth - "Day Drinking" We refer to this as the "Mother of all Studio C sessions." Never before had so many huge talents shared the room in Studio C. Stephen Bruton has produced albums for Storyville and Delbert McClinton, so it seemed natural for him to invite everyone to back him for a few songs live on the radio while they were all in town for the KBCO LoDo Music Festival. Also on the bill was Sonny Landreth so he joined the fun. Get down! Edwin McCain - "Solitude" Many new comers have showcased their talents in KBCO Studio C. Edwin McCain came to Boulder to perform for a radio industry gathering at the Fox Theatre. It wasn't long after this powerful session that Edwin's music would be heard everywhere. What an incredible voice! Collective Soul - "Bleed" The first time Collective Soul played Studio C, few had heard their music. This session was a return visit on the wings of their enormous success. It has been exciting to watch as this band grow so quickly. KBCO was there from the start. Jude Cole - "Speed of Life" After a few years away from the recording industry, and a move to Colorado, Jude Cole was ready to release his new album. KBCO listeners were a captive audience as Studio C once again became the forum to debut a yet to be released new album. Wanderlust - "I Walked" Sometimes you have to play the great new songs even if they come from a band no one has ever heard of before and no other radio station is playing. That was the case for this young group from Pennsylvania. First they came and conquered Studio C. Now you can hear them everywhere. Young Dubliners - "Wash My Hands" Always up for a new challenge, we invited the entire band and all their gear into our cozy room for a blistering afternoon concert. The Irish based music left our phone ringing for days. It's true. You never know what to expect from Studio C. Luka Bloom - "Diamond Mountain" One performer with guitar. This is where Studio C began. Luka Bloom stood alone before our microphones and worked his magic as a reminder that music comes from the song.
