Administrator notes: This collection was assembled as a favor to Jeff Tamarkin, author of "Got a Revoloution - The Turbultent Flight of the Jefferson Airplane". It has been used as a soundtrack not only to the book but also to many of the radio interviews that Jeff has done to promote the book. We felt that it was a shame not to "share a little joke with the world." So here it is.

Plastic Fantastic Video Collection

A collection of Jefferson Airplane television and film appearances from 1966 to 1971 This VCD tree is a re-invention of a VHS collection put together in 1996 for the 2400 FULTON email list. Originally on 3 VHS tapes, it has been transfered from the video to MPEGs and to VCDs. A caveat is that all the video segments are over 30 years old, so the quality is not like you would find at the video store. This VCD collection includes nearly every televised or filmed appearance made by the Jefferson Airplane between 1966 and 1971. The only exceptions are appearances that could not be found or recovered. The original project had booklets for each VHS tape. I have taken the booklets and re-invented them so there is a separate booklet for each VCD. There is a web site where JPGs of the booklets can be copied and printed: http://www.jwsrockgarden.com/JA_VCD.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setlist: The contents of each VCD follows, however, a more detailed description is included in the booklets associated with each VCD. VCD 1 1) Excerpt from a Bill Graham documentary 2:15 2) White Rabbit (promotional film clip - 1967) 2:30 3) White Rabbit (American Bandstand - 1967) 2:30 4) Monterey Pop Festival (June 18, 1967) 5:50 5) The Smothers brothers Comedy Hour (June 25, 1967) 6:40 6) Something Else (British TV, 1967) 11:00 7) Bouton Rouge (French TV, 1967) 3:00 8) Greasy Heart (promotional film clip - 1968) 3:35 9) Swedish TV (August, 1968) 1:55 10) The Ed Sullivan Show (September 28, 1968) 9:00 11) Paul & Marty (1968) 0:20 12) Schuyler Hotel - NYC (November 1, 1968) 7:40 13) The Smothers brothers Comedy Hour (November 10, 1968) 13:00 14) Fillmore East (November 26, 1969) 4:15 15) Fillmore: The Motion Picture (1971) 2:40 VCD 2 1) Woodstock (August 17, 1969) 21:40 2) The Dick Cavette Show (August 18, 1969) 55:30 VCD 3 1) Altamont Speedway (December 6, 1969) 6:35 2) Kralingen Pop Festival, Rotterdam (June 27, 1970) 12:15 3) The Dick Cavette Show (March 26, 1970) 44:10 VCD 4 1) A Night At The Family Dog (February 4, 1970) 59:00 Note: This disc has some annoying dropouts. 2) Voodoo Chile (Rhino Home Video ? 1999) 7:36 This clip is from the Rhino "Classic Album" series of the Hendrix Electric Ladyland LP. It is included here for the conversation between Eddie Kramer and Jack Casady about the making of the track "Voodoo Chile". Jack reminisces about the morning they cut the track and demonstates some of the base lines. Also included are conversations with Mitch Mitchell and Steve Winwood. VCD 5 1) Go Ride The Music (April 2, 1970) 56:35 Note: Again, some annoying dropouts, especially during the QMS segment. VCD 6 1) Blues In Technicolor (September 25, 1995) 54:02 Note: This segment was not in the original VHS collection. This is from the PBS series ?Rock & Roll? and included in its entirety because of the Airplane clips and interview with Paul Kantner. 2) Still Flying With Jefferson Airplane (October 16,1989) 21:45 Note: VH-1 documentary during the 1989 Reunion Tour.
