Notes:

DVD 16; lineage: MASTER SBD>?>"Claim 2 Fame" Silver Disc>Nero-Wave>FLAC 8>WAV>Cool Edit Pro v1.2>FLAC 6. As to make the recording more complete, I have included the Coney Island Baby track from another version of this show that was uploaded to DIME recently. The track is taken from an inferior FM source and is noticeably lower in sound quality. It's certainly worth including though as it's not included on the primary source used ("Claim 2 Fame").

TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
Once again, I get surprised by another amazing Lou Reed recording! Both the performance & sound quality on this recording are excellent. This show finds Lou in a particularly lively and honest mood. I say honest because he doesn't refrain from using any type of language and conduct he wants! Plus, this is a great set list and the audience seems very enthusiastic. I like how the audience is audible in the mix, even so much so during the music. It's not a distraction at all either. It gives the recording a live club atmosphere effect. That combined with the clarity of the music itself makes for a great recording. Since this is such a great show and and I'm such a big fan of Lou Reed, I thought I'd try to make this recording sound a little better. This is for personal enjoyment only of course. I share my work so other fans of Lou Reed can possibly benefit from the result. Take it or leave it. I do provide sample comparisons to help you decide. Anyways, on to the editing...
Like many soundboard sourced recordings from the sixties & seventies, the frequency response is a little unbalanced, most likely from tape transfer. This can be easily remedied with a few adjustments. A fair amount of equalization has been utilized here. This is a painstaking process and requires great attention to detail to get the right sound. I think the recording is clearer and crisper sounding now. Plus, a few harsh overtones are now gone. I have also adjusted the channel mix a little bit, attempting to take advantage of a good stereo mix. A few times during the show, there are a few imbalances for a second or so. I have adjusted some very small sections of the recording, as to not distort the signal when channel mixing. This adjustment will not be heard by most, and is less of a jump than it was before editing. The sound quality takes a bit of a dive from track 6 on. It's still a solid A, but obviously inferior to the first part of the show. I hope you enjoy this remaster and consider it an improvement over the original source(s). Enjoy!
