J-Card Comment: | About halfway through "You Better You Bet" it was obvious Roger's voice was hurting and the band omitted "Behind Blue Eyes" and went straight into "Won't Get Fooled Again". Roger continued to have problems and Pete took over lead vocals on the "I move myself..." part. Pete also cranked his guitar and really let loose with the windmilling. Roger didn't come back for the encore, hence the abbreviated encore. Pete apologized for Roger and introduced "Twist and Shout" as "that rock and roll classic Twist and Fuckin Shout". At the end, Pete banged his guitar on the stage several times, tossed it into the air, caught it, sliced the mike stand and raised the guitar over his head and gave it one good bash on the stage (it didn't break but the crowd went wild) before calling it quits. After he finished introducing the band and was standing there alone on the stage, he shook hands with an imaginary figure and introduced the crowd to Keith Moon before telling everyone to go home. |
