J-Card Comment:

This is a Group/Personal Project by "Those guys who might not be able to make a decent remaster, but can at least carry themselves with some grace and civility", The 7th Son, Joel, Luciferburns, Porgie, Mark, and Acapulco gold.

We hope that everyone who picks this project up will enjoy it, and will pass it along and share it with others, or just pass, the choice is yours.

This is not meant to be a "Definitive" recording.

Cheers and thanks go out to:

- The taper for taping and sharing their recording with everyone in the community, if you're out there, and happen to pick this up, we hope that you'll enjoy what we've done.

- My mate Luciferburns for sharing this source with me, always a pleaure trading with you, thank you for your generousity.

- My mate Porgie for going over the samples, giving me notes, and once again, getting the ball rolling on another project.

- My mate Mark for once again putting together some excellent artwork for this project, always a pleasure working with you.

Dedicated to everyone who's up to no good in Inglewood.

Notes:

One of the bands greatest shows of all time, the legendary "Bonzo's Birthday Party" performance.

Everyone in the group is playing exceptionally well, they're firing on all cylinders, but both Jimmy and Bonham are giving just a little bit more for the crowd.

Jimmy is doing some amazing guitar and solo work while playing with a broken finger, (Plant makes mention of this to the audience near the end of the show), and Bonham is probably playing better than usual because it is after all his "special day".

For those that may not know, there are 3 audience recordings of this show in circulation.

The tape source we've used to make this project is what I've always known to be the 2nd tape source, some collectors agree to this, and some list this source as the 3rd tape source.

This recording is very good, has very little to almost no tape hiss in the channels, and sounds like it was recorded very close to the stage, but it is unfortunately incomplete.

The tape isn't missing very much music, (the taper only missed "Communication Breakdown"), it's mostly missing the commentary between Plant and the audience, most likely the taper was trying to conserve as much tape as possible to record as much music as possible.

For this project, we decided to do what we did with our other Inglewood project "Heavy Vibraphones", offer collectors a straight raw transfer of the tape, and a remastered version of the tape.

The reason why the raw version is 3 discs worth of material, and the remastered version is just 2 discs is because the show was sent to this way.

All of the show (both raw and remastered) can fit on to 2 discs, it was indeed unescessary to burn the show on to 3 discs when it can all easily fit on to 2, but I'm offering collectors the raw recording in the original format in which I recieved it.

If you'd like to save yourself a disc, then please feel free to burn the raw version of the show on 2 discs, and in the same order as the remaster.

We hope that whoever picks this up will enjoy both versions.

What we've done to make the remaster:

- We've tried to balance the instruments as much as possible.

- We've tried to bring out things that were buried in the recording (cheers, clapping, commentary).

- We've tried to create a sense of acoustics, and a feeling of ambience in the recording.

- We've tried to reduce as much tape hiss as possible.

- We've split the show on to 2 discs instead of 3.

Highlights Of This Show Are:

- Black Dog
- Over The Hills And Far Away
- Since I've Been Loving You
- No Quarter
- The Rain Song
- Dazed And Confused
- Stairway To Heaven
- Moby Dick (Obviously)
- Whole Lotta Love

The title of this show comes from a Plantation made just before the band plays "Moby Dick", we wanted to try and come up with a new and suitable title idea for this project instead of just recycling the "Bonzo's Birthday Party" title, and this just came to us while listening to the show.

Cheers
