Geetarz Comments:
What a night! This was my first show at the fairly new Performing Arts Center. A true 21st century venue, the acoustics were superb and we were treated with one of the best sounding shows ever. Mark and band were in top form, and everything was perfect, including the lighting.

Original Lineage:
2nd Row Center Balcony > Church Audio Cards > Church 9100 Pre > Edirol R-09 > SD Card > PC > SoundForge 9 (Normalize, Edits) > CDWav > FLAC (Level 5) > You !!!

I had (after a long wait after I placed my order) just received my new set of Church Audio cards in the mail, and decided to break them in on this show. I literally opened the package on the way to the venue. So imagine my dismay when I began recording and saw that the left mic was running quite a bit hotter than the right mic, as they are not properly matched.

This is the untampered, original recording. If anyone would like to take a shot at equalizing the channels, feel free. In the past when I've had mic issues I've simply taken the better channel and mirrored it for a mono signal; that may be the best option here in the future but I wanted to get the original recording out there.

I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did the concert, which was one of the musical highlight of 2008 for me (out of 35+ shows!).

Recorded, Edited, and Torrented by Geetarz, December 2008.

Enjoy!

Editing Notes:

This is not an update, merely a balancing act.

I despise spurious "improvements" to other's recordings, but here was an open invitation to do so and the prospect of an excellent performance/recording that wouldn't otherwise get the play it deserved.

The amplitude of the Right-Hand Channel was a third that of the Left; it is now boosted by 9dB.
Whilst that doesn't achieve an exact balance, it can be uniformly applied to all tracks without incurring clipping.

Track-1 had considerable mic rustling noises during the lead-in, which contained interval music. The corrupted section is removed and the loss of "atmosphere" is more than compensated by a smooth introduction. Amplitude steps due to last-minute knob-twiddling have been reduced.

All editing performed at 32bits using Adobe Audition v1.0.

Track filenames are appended with an 'a', to help avoid confusion with the original files.
