J-Card Comment:

I received the cassette of this show about forty years ago, so I can't imagine
it passed through too many hands on the way to me. In my opinion, it's one of the
best sounding shows from the early 1968 tour. I suspect the taper had a thirty minute
reel, and did their best to conserve tape by stopping and starting the tape at the
end and beginning of each song. As a result, sometimes a few notes at the end or
beginning of each song is missing. I suspect towards the end the taper wanted to
save some tape for "Purple Haze", which is why "Like A Rolling Stone" is in fragments.
Unlike most Hendrix audience tapes from this era, the vocals are strong in the mix. If
there's any shortfall, it's in the bottom end. The performances are strong, the sound
quality is good, and the song selection is interesting. I'd highly recommend this if you
don't have it. If anybody over the years has ever been able to determine if it's the early
or late show, please leave that info in the comments section. Enjoy!
