Hello Everyone:

It was great to catch a show in a place other than the usual casino venues that Iíve become accustomed to. I had forgotten how much I love the Providence Civic Center, oops, the DD Center (I guess itís been a while). The sound here is so much better than the Arena at Mohegan Sun and I felt the crowd was much more responsive to the band. The Who were in top form this evening. Everyone seemed comfortable and more animated than the 12/9/12 show, probably looking forward to some well deserved time off before commencing the Quad tour in June. Pete was spot on as usual and Roger for the most part was able to hold it together with some rough spots towards the end of the show.

Huge thanks to Carl and CC for scoring the tickets and providing transport and fine conversation (a wealth of knowledge in all things music). It was also a pleasure to meet Carl and CCís friends before the show. Spending time with the preeminent taper for this area and all around great guy Dan Lampinski was as a great rush for me. To hear him tell stories of the golden age of Rock music and his taping adventures is always a thrill.

IMHO, this is a better recording than my 12/9/12 show. This is a concrete building and it absorbs the reflected sound waves cutting down on echo. The M.S. Arena is a tin shed and the echo is prevalent almost everywhere.

Enjoy

The Who play show in Providence 34-years after canceled concert

The Who returned to Providence on Tuesday night for the first time since 1979.

That 1979 concert was canceled because of safety concerns by former Mayor and ABC6 Political Analyst Buddy Cianci, after 11-fans were trampled at a concert in Cincinnati.

Most ticket holders simply got a refund, but those who held on to the tickets were able to trade them in, for a chance to see The Who.

In total 32-tickets were handed over, a trade that most 1979 ticket holders were happy to make.

"I never thought in my wildest dreams that I'd be able to use these tickets again. I'm in the 3rd row, I'm elated and I can't wait to see the concert." said Karen Charatte from Fall River.
