J-Card Comment:

There would be so many things, so many souvenirs to share about this concert and this tour. This is probably the one single tour I
attended the most concerts, 17 in total between June and September 1987. And this one the first one which was out of three gigs
Gabriel played in Paris that year. I am not going into the details on how much waiting I had to do the previous march when the
tickets were on sale and on how much Bercy was packed for the comeback of Gabriel in Paris after 3 and half years. I was at the last
show PG did in Paris in 1983 and there was not that kind of hysteria as in 1987.

At that time, my Sony Pro TCS-310 was still my recording device. It was an ok recorder but not that great if used with its own
external microphone. Occasionally I would use it connected to an old, gigantic stereo Philips microphone. It was so big that I could
not hide it in a biscuit box as I was doing for the Sony. You could detach the right and the left microphone (the grand-grand father
of binaural mics nowadays) so I used to put under my trousers and put the microphones under the socks on right and left leg. So you could
imagine I was walking a bit like a robot when approaching the security. Ah...these were the days...

Anyway, I could sit on the stalls and record properly. The first night I was sitting on the right side with a good exposure to PA and
just a few people talking near me. Everybody was so curious to hear the new material and echoes from the NA tour of the previous year
reported it would have been a great show. My high school had just ended the day before, so I was ready to travel (by train) to Paris and
then back to Italy for the rest of the tour.

I recorded many of the shows I attended during that tour. I did not record the first London show because I was caught before the show but
luckily an excellent recording is circulating. But some of these masters were missing from my collection: the three Paris, Roma as well as
Torino from the Amnesty Tour 88. It was a pure coincidence that I was given a big bunch of Gabriel tapes from a fellow collector - MBT - the
other day: some 200 tapes to look and transfer digitally. I used to borrow some tapes from MBT and give him some of mines bach in the 90¥s
and when I looked at the pack...here they are my masters!

So as a "thank you" here is the very first (even for me) transfer of the June 5th recording. Quality is very pleasant and I was happy
to listen to it back after so many years. I will go through MBT collection to see if he had other gems that can be shared.

Dedicated to those individuals who do not share Peter Gabriel recordings because they love to see them locked in their closets...
