J-Card Comment:

An energetic early gig by REM - the audience certainly enjoy this, but thankfully their cries don't affect too much of the music.

Seven Chinese Brothers is introduced as a new song, and Michael tells a little about the background to the song after a false start to it. It's taken at a slightly slower pace than the studio version. Despite the average audio quality, this comes out quite well (at least on the processed version I've listened to more - see below) - there's a mysterious backing vocal they clearly used reverb on during the show, which makes the song stand out here.

The backing vocals sound similarly good on the following number, Radio Free Europe. They end on a raucous cover of NY Dolls' Pills.

This is not as good quality as the other R.E.M. gigs I posted recently - it's average bootleg quality ... however I like the sound on this 'processed' version I have made here. I have shared the 'raw'version elsewhere.

If this is for you, enjoy.
