Comment
(1) Adelaide (3:20) Nice stage-front, pro-shot film over poor dubbed sound. Bits of T man then a hands-free JLAW.

(2) Earls Court (9:20) More pro-shot, this time from left-of-stage, capturing tasty chunks of Feeling, Crying, T Man, all in decent quality (see second screenshot).

(3) Gothenburg (2:25) A short TV package featuring a reporter trying in vain to prise from defensive D (probably just off the plane) what today we‘d call a sound-bite and then would have been called a quote + brief shots of the empty venue he’d soon be filling.

(4) Paris (2:35) Another short TV spot including some pro-shot Changing Of The Guards.

(5) Dortmund (6:30) TV again and repeated short pro-shot snips of Baby Stop Crying.

(6) Rotterdam (16:00) Steady, stage-front but washed-out footage over sound that’s scrambled near to destruction, but catching all of Love Her With A Feeling then substantial slices of six more, including 3:30 of a lovely, languid Tangled.

(7) LA (3:20) TV once more - pro-shot LARS beneath voice-overs.

(8) Terre Haute (30:00) Steady, close, black and white film in mostly very watchable condition (fourth screenshot), though a debilitating tracking problem spoils all of LARS. Sadly sound is again poor. But, even so, we start with a complete (4:30) hands-free Baby Blue that‘s well worth the effort. I remember the shock of seeing D perform, in R&C, that demonic hands-free Isis (from RTR ‘75, of course) and when the style re-emerged in Prague in March of ‘95 it was again, twenty years on, viewed as a novel departure. But footage like this and the Adelaide above makes you wonder whether he hasn’t slipped the odd one in, as and when the mood took him, all down the line! The other gem of this film is the closing 2:45 of Stepchild, a song performed 53 times in the last three months of the ‘78 tour but never since. If the unusual does it for you, then D441.1 is probably worth seeking out for this rarity alone. Four or five other choice titbits here too.

(9) San Diego (5:00) Colourful and steady but tired film (screenshot 5) over poor sound, bringing us scraps of three songs.

(10) Carbondale (3:00) A pleasantly enjoyable pro-shot (SS6) Changing, abridged but easy on both eye and ear.

(11) Indianapolis (8:45) Close, steady, amateur footage but very washed-out with sound equally far gone. Parts of four songs, all rough.
