ZionLionHead My first Grateful Dead Show. I don't remember much except the scarlet>fire was beautifully sad as was the mood that evening and weekend due to Bill Graham's recent passing. Later that night my buddy and I left a candle burning after returning home from the show and it caught the television on fire while we passed out. We eventually woke up and put out the fire that almost got out of control. I woke up the next morning with fire still playing in my head.

tom Awoow, Werewolves of London!

U-Turn Mike I was at this show - right after the tragic death of Bill Graham. During the furious, smokin' jam in the Dark Star (right before or after Kesey gave his rap) I had the distinct experience of witnessing one of the unrestrained jams of the late 60s early 70s - it was like a freight train speeding along...
And oh yeah, "Werewolves"!

OldNeumanntapr This HAS to qualify for the best all time Dead show that I've ever seen! I still get chills thinking about this show. I'm sorry that it was so bittersweet, as Bill Graham had just recently died. The Scarlet->Fire was incredible! The Dark Star was unbelievable and Ken Kesey's monologue during Drums / Space was by far one of the most moving experiences of my life. "Buffalo Bill is Defunct! ...And what I want to know is, How do you like your blue-eyed boy NOW Mr Death?!" Everyone was still so stunned because of the accident. My hat is off to the band members for delivering such a moving show. What a tribute to Bill. I taped this show and 10/27 of this series and also taped the Bill Graham Memorial in Golden Gate Park that weekend but I thought the Dead's set at the memorial, while very good with the addition of John Fogerty, was kind of anticlimactic after this show. They really pulled out all the stops! I was so glad to get a DAT copy of the soundboard of this show. It makes my tapers section D6 master pale in comparison.
