Matt Xavier Brent had died in july of this year so the dead cancelled the shows they were going to play on this weekend at shoreline. Mike and Steve and I drove from Sequoia National Park. Los Lobos opened the show and did a version of Bertha that was simply great. This was a hometown crowd full of nervous energy but Jerry felt it and it shows in his playing. The DVD doesn't fully convey the emotion of the crowd on this night yet every song is played well.
