Comments: The first known recording from the spring tour of 2000. This was the 4th show of the "Let Them Eat Cake"-tour Highlights: Nothing too special going on here, it seems they needed a few gigs to dig out the really interesting and mindblowing moments that year, but the combination of Heartbreaker and Hight Time to open the show is always a blast, as well as the Black To Comm/Tristano jam in the end.

This the first time (second & last time 03/30/00) the second verse of "K9" is omitted (here: due to a broken guitar). Longest "Liz Reed" in circulation. originally performed by: # Allman Brothers * Sun Ra ~ Miles Davis % Stooges Incredible jamfest! Just fantastic. There are two recordings. Although they do not differ enough in sound quality to get different ratings, they do differ: My recording is crystal clear, but lacks bass. Audience recording #2 has more bass, but isn't as clear as mine. What you end up with is a matter of taste. I prefer the clarity of my recording:-) K9 is the total pling-plong psychedelia version with Sun Ra's We Travel The Spaceways thrown in like the most natural thing in the world. Jawdropping. During the last crescendo Bent breaks a string and has to skip the last verse. (The whole 12 string guitar goes out of tune if one string breaks.) So he quickly changes guitar, signaling to Snah to do the same. Snah reaches for the acoustic one, and on the fly they slip smoothly into Upstairs/Downstairs. Amazing. Bent's setlist also included Plan #1 after Go To California, but it was erased, and also not played. Heartbreaker was on the setlist after Nerve Tattoo, and Pills, Powders & Passionplays and Vortex Surfer were both apparently possible last encores, but none of them were played. Bent plays the riff of Deep Purple's Burn during the hilarious intro to Song For A Bro'. Highlights: The Allman Brothers Band cover Liz Reed is the longest MP-version we have on record. Go To California has a great guitarsolo. K9 with the Sun Ra cover is probably a once in a lifetime experience, mindblowing. Walkin' With J. again has the "Karius & Baktus"-intro (it's a song they learned from the famous norwegian childbook and childsong writer Thorbj?rn Egner), and a great jam around the Miles Davis song "So What". Black To Comm is very powerful. A vigorous Song For A Bro' closes the circle with the longest version to that date.

Comments: It's a good mixture of rock, pop and spaceout, and in that it is a very typical 2000 show. The sound would have scored an 8 in sound if it wasn't for the sometimes annoying crowd. There is a small "jump" in the rather sloppy Song For A Bro' at 10:00 It was when this goodie showed up together with the heavily spaced out Copengahen 98 I decided to see all shows in Copenhagen from that point on. (I went to the 24.09.01 gig, but ironically Copenhagen was the only show I didn't see on the 2002 spring tour:-) Highlights: I'm, as you might have noticed, a big fan of the more spaced out stuff, and here we get a couple of very nice jams. K9 is once again lovely/squeaky and very intense, and ommits the second verse to float into Upstairs/Downstairs instead. This also happened in Halden two days earlier, but that night it was an accident. This time they try to recreate that magic, and they do it with great success! Walkin' with J. is also very good, with a great jam around the So What theme. The Hogwash/Tristano version is experimental beyond the usual, and has a lot of unexpected sounds. This is how we have learned to love B?rd's live efforts! Alex says: GREAT SOUND!

A good show, but unfortunately in hissy and distant sound. The sound is taken from an audience video recording, and contains a lot of audience noise. This one is not a must have, despite being a radio broadcast... Maybe it was an amateur station? Although this tape is at least 2. generation , the loss in quality between tape generations can't fully explain the bad sound. The show started with The 3rd, Superstooge, The Witch, Go To California and All Is Loneliness, but these songs were probably not aired. Ricky says: Today I've listened to the Brescia 2000 recording! Hey, it's a radio broadcast! The "owner" of the festival was the italian radio "radio onda d'urto" and the speaker at the beginning says something like: "If you're around come here that the concert is going on"... And before the encore: "We have found the way to broadcast the concert also if not from the beginning..." I think that only in Italy it's possible to broadcast a concert in C/C+ sound!! Alex says: According to rumors there was a snippet of a Grateful Dead song called "The Eleven" performed in Black To Comm. unfortunately this is not "the eleven". it is a lenghty "lovelight" improvisation started by bent. it features some made-up lyrics but bent always returns to the 'lovelight' theme. Highlights: None.
