07/09/95 Club Maui Philadelphia PA 2 CDR notes   This guy's pretty cool. If nothing else, just listen to his introduction to Antarctica... "I was attempting outdoor congress with a particularly attractive eskimess." Lawrence Juber plays a crazy acoustic guitar, too.

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
02/14/70 Fillmore East New York NY 1 SHN notes   Pretty short for an Allman Brothers set, but it's worth every minute. The sound is pretty much flawless.
04/04/70 Ludlow's Garage Cincinnati OH 2 CDR notes   Wow, this show is really good. There's not a dull moment here. It's a super hot show! Only sound problems are a little hiss and some rawness in the sound, but I'd say it's pretty good.
07/26/70 S.U.N.Y. Gym Stony Brook NY 1 CDR notes   Pretty hissy, but the instruments and vocals come through pretty well.
12/13/70 Leonard Gym, American University Washington DC 1 CDR notes   Great sound quality, and another rocking Allman Bros show. Stormy Monday fades out, sadly, but there's enough good music to make up for it.
01/17/71 Syria Mosque Pittsburgh PA 1 CDR notes   Sound is pretty muffled, but it's quite listenable. As always, the Allmans deliver a very nice performance. You Don't Love Me has some especially nice guitar interplay by Duane and Dickey.
01/30/71 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   The recording is a bit deteriorated, but it's a fine fine show! An exceptionally hot Whipping Post, too.
03/13/71 Fillmore East (Early) New York NY 1 CDR notes   A nearly perfect recording of a great show, though Elizabeth Reed and Mountain Jam have some hiss (it gets pretty bad at times, but it's still quite listenable). Apparently it's from the same original recording as the Fillmore Concerts, but these are not the touched up recordings we find on those albums.
03/20/71 The Warehouse New Orleans LA 2 SHN notes   3 Audio discs Another good show. The only problem with is there's just too much hiss throughout the entire recording. The 47 minute Mountain Jam and the You Don't Love Me/Whipping Post jams would be fantastic otherwise. See tech notes for md5 info.
06/27/71 Fillmore East New York NY 1 SHN notes source As always, it's a rocking show, with great soundboard quality as well.
08/26/71 A&R Studios New York NY 1 CDR notes   This is one of the best sounding recordings of Duane era Allman Brothers I've heard, and it's quite delightful. You can't go wrong with a show this good.
09/16/71 The Warehouse New Orleans LA 2 SHN notes source 3 Audio discs. Sound quality isn't great, but it's passable. Vocals are nearly inaudible, and there are some points where the source is damaged. As always it's a great show. It's the Allman Bros. How could it not be?
07/12/72 The Spectrum Philadelphia PA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A very nice soundboard of the Brothers coming down from their prime. They rock pretty hard in this show, and even with Duane recently departed there's some fine musicianship here. Whipping Post and the encore jam are pretty amazing.
08/06/72 Hollywood Bowl Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   A pretty good audience recording for its age, with some audience noise at times, but not too bad. The show is very fiery, especially those jams with Johnny Winter. Too bad it's not a soundboard.
06/09/73 RFK Stadium Washington DC 2 SHN notes source 3 audio discs. The sound starts off a little funny (mostly just the mix, sometimes the volume), but it's quite clear and has nice stereo sound. A pretty cool three hour show, with lots of guitar and keyboards to satisfy the soul.
06/10/73 Robert F. Kennedy Stadium Washington DC 2 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. The sound is mostly perfect, with just a few minor glitches here and there. It's a fine show, although it's missing most of Whipping Post. Good music all around, as always.
12/31/73 Cow Palace Daly City CA 3 SHN notes source 4 Audio discs. An essential Allman Bros recording. Sound is perfect in all ways, and the performance is stellar. There are a few very minor fluctuations in levels at points during the recording, but nothing very disturbing.
01/01/74 Cow Palace Daly City CA 2 CDR notes   The sound is pretty tinny/hissy, but the really bad thing is that random channels die out and come back throughout the recording.
07/12/04 Uptown Theater Kansas City MO 2 SHN notes source 3 audio discs. These guys always put on a great show, no matter how many original members there are. This recording is great, and the show rocks. Whoever wrote the info file seems to have things a little wrong, though... Melissa is definitely not acoustic, the Drums/bass section of Instrumental Illness includes some full band jamming, and a few other things like that. Not a big deal, though. The music is where it's at!

05/??/68 George Harrison's House Esher, Surrey England 1 CDR notes   Unplugged White Album demos. Sound is a little raw, but you can't get any better than the Beatles.
01/30/69 Apple Records Rooftop London England 1 CDR notes   The rooftop concert sounds great, and it's just one of those essential bootlegs. Filler is 11 tracks from the Twickenham sessions that sound almost perfect.
02/05/69 Get Back - The Final Glyn Johns Compilation London England 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs, which include Glyn Johns mix 1 and 2. Mix 1 is SHN, Mix 2 is FLAC. I guess this is the original Get Back album as it was going to be or something like that. It's the Beatles, so of course it's great.
??/??/70 Acoustic Submarine - Career Spanning Demos London UK 2 CDR notes   Pretty cool stuff. Sounds like a bunch of (mostly) acoustic alternate takes and outtakes from the greatest band ever. A few tracks sound like they're the same as the album versions.

03/17/81 Bond's International Casino New York NY 3 CDR notes   Great soundboard quality, and man is this a great show! All kinds of fun, and great musicianship all around. It's hard to find anything by this classic 60's band, so when a great recording like this comes around it's a real treat.

??/??/66 Stampede Studio Recordings Various Various 1 CDR notes   The recording shows its age (even for a studio recording), but unless you want to pay for the Buffalo Springfield Box Set, this is the best place to get lots of otherwise unreleased songs, which are all extremely great songs. The live filler has terrible vocals but the guitar solos still sound nice.
??/??/68 Missing Herd Disc 1 Compilation Compilation 1 CDR notes   The recording quality is never perfect here, but some of the songs are pretty listenable, and the performance quality is amazing!
??/??/68 Missing Herd Disc 2 Compilation Compilation 1 CDR notes   Sound quality varies, but it is mostly very good. The Monterey Pop Festival songs are particularly amazing (R&R Woman>Bluebird is intense).

02/28/67 Radiohuset, Studio 4 Stockholm Sweden 1 SHN notes   Perfect sound quality for a very short show. It's only about 20 minutes long with six songs and six small introductions for them.
11/02/68 Avalon Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes   A fine, fine show by a bunch of great musicians. The recording shows some age, but for the most part, it's a good listen. There's some nice slide guitar on most of the songs, too, which makes it even more awesome.
02/22/69 Boston Tea Party Boston MA 1 CDR notes   Perfect sound, and a great country rock set. Loads of fun!
01/04/70 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   Delightful! The guitars are right up front in the mix, although the drums and bass should be a bit higher, the show overall is amazing.
09/20/70 Pacific Memorial Stadium Stockton CA 2 CDR notes   Great sound for the most part, although there are a few sound glitches from the original tape and/or the soundboard from time to time. The Byrds rip it up for a nice long, action packed set.
??/??/70 Ash Grove Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Pretty good sound, although the mix isn't perfect at first. The show is pretty nice, with some fine guitar work by Clarence White, and a few snazzy guests.

09/26/03 Mojo's Columbia MO 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A stellar acoustic show by Cary Hudson and Mark Bilyeu with perfect sound quality. The highlight of the show is the portion of Cary's set with Mark sitting in, but it's a good time all around. Each set fits on one disc.

01/23/72 Pacific High Recorders Sausalito CA 1 FLAC notes source Sweeeeeet show with nearly perfect sound. The sound isn't as good as the 74 show in circulation, but IMHO the show is waaaaay better. You'll have to hear it to be sure.
12/16/72 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Sounds like it was ripped from a very old vinyl. Quality is deteriorated but listenable. John Cipollina's solos still sound great.
12/31/72 Diamond Head Center Honolulu HI 1 FLAC notes source Pretty good soundboard recording, although it's deteriorated enough to notice. It's a short show by a hard to find band.
01/02/73 Diamond Head Center Honolulu HI 1 FLAC notes source Much like the performance two nights earlier. The sound is a little better, although Rocket Ship is missing the beginning. It's another short show, though (12/31/72 and 1/2/73 will fit on one disc together).
11/30/73 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes source The sound is a pretty clear soundboard, but the mix isn't always perfect. Of course, I can't complain when it's a SBD of Copperhead.
02/01/74 Longbranch Berkeley CA 1 FLAC notes source There's some hiss here, and that's it. The music rocks my socks, especially an 18-minute Making A Monster.

07/31/00 B.B. King Blues Club New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A good time and a pretty nice recording. Not perfect sound, but the good mood of the band and the great music make up for that.
07/10/01 Paradiso Amsterdam Netherlands 2 CDR notes   I don't have a setlist, and the show is in three tracks (2 on one cd, 1 on the other). I don't know which is the first disc because it came unmarked other than artist & date.
07/20/01 P.zza Anfiteatro Lucca Italy 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Great taping job, with only a little bit of low level crowd noise. This show just blew me away. These guys work quite amazingly together, and as always, Crosby writes some wonderful songs.
03/06/04 Keswick Theatre Glenside PA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. It's a pretty relaxed show, which is cool. Lots of new songs, entertaining banter between songs, and so on. The sound is quite nice- noticeably an audience, but not so much that it gets in the way of listening.
03/13/04 Pollak Theatre - Monmouth University West Long Branch NJ 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Another very nice taping job. You can tell it's an audience recording, but it's a nice show, and good sound. Crosby's certainly hit a peak in the past few years, and the entire band is playing quite well.

¤ Cream ¤
Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
08/26/67 Fillmore Auditorium San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Other Nights Other Vaults vol 4 Like many other ONOV shows, the sound is pretty muddy, but the performance makes it all worth it. The band is practically on fire during this show. I think the show may have taken place on the 29th of August because the copy of the poster says Cream was there from Aug 29 through Sept 3rd (see poster scan at http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/fillmore67.htm). Just my two cents.
09/03/67 Fillmore Auditorium San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Spectral analysis looks like all frequencies abover 10khz are gone (not mp3, but some sort of noise reduction. A side effect of the remaster, I guess). Sound is not quite as raw as I remember the original copy being, but still not easy to listen to. Good show, really rough sound. The nice thing about this show is the jams go on just long enough to entertain but they're not so long that they put you to sleep.
10/15/67 Grande Ballroom Detroit MI 2 CDR notes   Sounds very nice, although the recording is a bit raw. An amazing performance on top of that. For more info on the performance see http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/grandeballroom.htm
03/03/68 Fillmore Auditorium San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Like the 9/3/67 show, the remaster leaves the high frequencies out. Sound is better than 9/3/67, a little clearer, but far from perfect. As for the performance, it's a little different than usual, which makes it entertaining.
03/23/68 Shapiro Gym, Brandeis University Waltham MA 1 SHN notes   2 audio Another one of those landmark shows, but bad bad sound. Although I guess I could do without eight and a half minutes of traintime.
10/04/68 Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 1 SHN notes   Very common bootleg because it has some of the best sound quality of any Cream show out there. Sadly it's not as exciting as many other shows, but they're still one of the best bands ever, so it's a great bootleg. See http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/finalwest.htm for more info on the show.
10/26/05 Madison Square Garden New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This is a much better recording than I thought it would be, considering how huge MSG is. This is a really cool show, too. Must have been a good time, seeing three old guys rock this hard.

11/22/77 The Summit Houston TX 2 CDR notes   Starts off with some intense acoustic guitar playing by Stills, and just gets better and better. A lot of hiss though, and a few technical problems. They were, as always, an amazing band at this point.
11/26/82 Universal Amphitheatre Universal City CA 2 CDR notes   The setlist on this copy is the same up until the end of disc one, and then it's quite different from etree. Sounds like this is a more complete version of the concert, but with less filler. The sound is great, and it's another fine performance by a great band. The vocals are particularly nice, since it's before any of them (Stills) began to really lose their voices, and they still play those guitars quite nicely.
11/28/82 Universal Amphitheatre Los Angeles CA 1 SHN notes   Perfect sound, which rocks. The performance is also quite nice. Doesn't have too much of that overproduced 80's sound, and the band showcases each of their best talents in a really cool show. Croz doesn't show up on this cd all that much... I think this was that period when he was really messed up on drugs and such. A good show to listen to, though.
09/08/01 Smirnoff Music Center Dallas TX 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This recording starts out quite nicely with very clear sound, but towards the end of disc one some people in front of the mic start getting a little rowdy and make tons of noise in the recording. I've heard worse, but I don't like hearing screaming fans when I'm listening to CSN. By Helplessly Hoping, they're pretty annoying, and by Wooden Ships it's almost unbearable. Aside from that, it's one of the better CSN performances I've heard, with some extremely hot solos by Stills and Finnigan.
04/03/03 Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Rapid City SD 2 CDR notes   This is the best sounding recording from the 2003 tour I have heard so far. As always a great performance, and a very nice setlist with two great new Stills songs. There are some recording problems starting during the encores, but until then it's pretty much perfect.
09/06/03 Oakdale Theater Wallingford CT 2 CDR notes   Sound is pretty distant and the bass is very heavy. It doesn't sound so bad most of the time, except when some people are screaming in the recording equipment.
09/09/03 Tweeter Center at the Waterfront Camden NJ 2 CDR notes   This is obviously an audience recording, but not a bad one compared to the others I've heard from this tour. The sound is pretty distant, but the crowd noise not very loud. The entire band was just awesome during this tour. Performances all around rocked! They didn't play many new songs at this show, but everything they played was fantastic.
08/06/04 Oakdale Theater Wallingford CT 2 FLAC notes   Once again, I say CSN are better since the millenium than they have EVER been! This show ROCKS so much! Sadly, there seem to be very few quality recordings of them these days. This one isn't bad, but it could be a lot better. Why aren't there any soundboards of the last few CSN tours???
06/18/05 Frognerparken Oslo Norway 2 CDR notes   Much better sound than I've been used to from CSN auds in the past few years (this almost sounds like a soundboard). There's practically no audience noise and the sound is very clear, if trebly. The only downside is that it's a relatively short set, but they make up for that with some great musicianship (as always).

08/18/69 Max Yasgur's Farm Bethel NY 1 CDR notes   Sounds great, even though it's missing more than half the set (did anyone record all those missing songs at all?). The band still sounds like they haven't played much together, but it's great stuff.
08/26/69 Greek Theatre Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Bring Me Gladness bootleg. Much better sound than the other source. The sound is still a little distant and it gets worse during the electric set, but that's about the only problem. The acoustic set has great vocals and quiet guitars. Great recording for early CSNY.
09/13/69 Esalen Institute Big Sur CA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This version is much better than the one I had before, mainly because the time between songs is set on different tracks. This is especially handy when there seem to be fights breaking out in the audience... I just don't want to listen to those. The acoustic set sounds okay for its age, though there are a few pops here and there.
06/03/70 Fillmore East New York NY 2 CDR notes   Another nice soundboard from the 1970 leg of the tour. It sounds more deteriorated than the others I've heard, though, so it's not quite perfect. Filler on second disc from Roosevelt Raceway 9/8/74
06/04/70 Fillmore East New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. For show notes, see 6/5 and 6/6/70. They're all basically the same. Perfect sound, same nice performance.
06/05/70 Fillmore East New York NY 2 CDR notes   Amazing sound, as good or better than 4 Way Street. The performance and setlist are even better, too. This is the version that is missing the first 4 songs, but everything else more than makes up for the missing songs.
06/06/70 Fillmore East New York NY 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs. This is one of the best of the 1970 CSNY concerts that I've heard. The banter between songs is a little different from the others, it's the complete show (minus a bit of Love The One You're With), and it sounds great.
06/26/70 The Forum Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Slightly hissy sound, but it's another one of those Halverson Tapes recordings, so it's good. It still seems weird to me how all the recordings from 1970 seem to have nearly the same performances and the same between-song banter with only slight alterations. It's slightly disconcerting.
06/28/70 The Forum Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   There are a few small dropouts in the recording, and it sounds pretty muffled. The bass during the electric part of the show is pretty heavy.
07/07/73 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Tracks 1,3,9 have small dropouts at some point during each track, but for the most part they are relatively small. The performance quality makes up for that. One of the best CSNY bootlegs ever.
07/09/74 Seattle Center Coliseum Seattle WA 3 CDR notes   After relistening many times, I've decided this recording isn't nearly as bad as I once thought it was. The bass is pretty heavy, as any audience recording usually is, and the vocals can be a little distant during the acoustic sets, but aside from that it really doesn't sound half bad. The performance isn't anything special compared to many other CSNY shows, but it's still CSNY.
07/13/74 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 3 CDR notes   Pretty tinny sound, and the mix isn't exactly the best. Better than some recordings of the tour, but overall it's a little disappointing for a soundboard.
09/08/74 Roosevelt Raceway Westbury NY 3 CDR notes   The sound for this show starts out great, but it goes downhill starting during the second disc as Stills and Young do their acoustic sets. The vocals get a lot more distant during this drop in quality, and it almost sounds like a switch from sbd to aud. The A- is for everything before the quality drop. Afterwards it's about B/B+
02/09/00 Arco Arena Sacramento CA 3 CDR notes   Good sound quality but a little thin sounding, and a pretty nice show. A few digiclicks on Our House.
03/14/00 Phillips Arena Atlanta GA 3 CDR notes   A few small moments of static between songs, but this is a great soundboard recording.
04/05/02 Compaq Center San Jose CA 3 CDR notes   Slightly tinny sound, but a pretty good recording aside from that. Booker T Jones on keyboards. CSNY is in great form, and one of the better renditions of SJBE I've heard in a while.

07/05/82 Marin County Fair San Rafael CA 1 FLAC notes source A very cool dinosaurs show with slightly less than great soundboard quality. It's a short show, and there's some great jammming all throughout.
09/17/82 The Roxy Hollywood CA 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. The sound is not that great for a soundboard, but it's good enough for a listen or two. The interplay between John and Nicky is really amazing! And Robert Hunter manages to pleasantly surprise me with every batch of songs he sings with the Dinosaurs.
12/31/82 Oakland Auditorium Oakland CA 1 SHN notes source Very nice sound for such an old audience tape. A tiny bit tinny, but that's nothing to worry about. It's a great band and a great show, with lots of guests and lots of fun.
04/09/83 Kabuki Night Club San Francisco CA 2 FLAC notes source While there are some parts of this show that get a little slow, there are also some of my favorite Dinosaurs moments at other points. Streetwise and Promontory Rider are amazing, the 21 minute Closer is tons of fun, and the six guest musicians really spice things up. It's a very fun show.
06/17/83 Keystone Palo Alto CA 1 FLAC notes source Nice clear soundboard sound quality, with a fine performance. The mix is never entirely right, but this seems to be a problem with the soundboard (or the soundman, as Barry mentions during one of the talk tracks).
06/18/83 Phoenix Theater Petaluma CA 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. It takes a little while for the mix to even out (sounds like they're adjusting it throughout the first two and a half songs), but once they get it, it's pretty much perfect sound.
07/14/83 Starry Night Portland OR 3 CDR notes   The mix in this recording is a little muddy, just clear enough to hear the vocals and some nice solos. Cip's guitar is right up front most of the time, luckily. Of course, it's a very nice show. The last disc has some nasty sound like vinyl scratching.
09/17/83 Salt Air Pavillion Salt Lake City UT 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. A pretty goofy show, if the ten minute Hokey Pokey is any indication. The sound is okay, though kind of muffled a lot of the time. David LaFlamme and John Cipollina spice up every song with some great violin and guitar jams.
10/15/83 Keystone Palo Alto CA 1 FLAC notes source Not the best sound for a dinos show, but it's got some hot playing by the boys, and a really nice version of Mona.
01/28/84 Wolfgang's San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. For a soundboard recording, this isn't perfect, but the performance is way better than a lot of other Dinos recordings I've heard. The sound has a little distortion at loud parts, and some ever so slight tape deterioration. Like I said, though, the band rocks!
02/18/84 Keystone Palo Alto Palo Alto CA 2 FLAC notes source Very good sound, once the mix gets set. It's a crazy performance, especially the second disc which is just full of wonderful jamming by everyone involved. Get this show!
03/02/84 Caberet Cotati CA 2 CDR notes   Early & Late shows. The mix fluctuates a bit in the first few tracks. All in all, most of the instruments are very easy to hear and it's a great listen. Jennifer Albin and Nick Gravenites sing on a few songs.
07/15/84 Marx Meadow, Golden Gate Park San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. Nearly perfect sound (just a little distortion at the high levels) and a great show. This is one of the best sounding Dinosaurs shows I've heard, and the setlist and performance leave nothing to be desired. This is pretty much the best Hunter-era introduction to this band that I can think of.
07/04/85 California Acadamy Of Sciences, Steinhart Aqaurium San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   A little hissy and some instruments are quiet, but overall it's a pretty good recording.
07/04/85 California Acadamy Of Sciences, Steinhart Aqaurium San Francisco CA 1 DVD-R notes   A pretty cool dvd, which is far more entertaining than the audio recording, I think. The only problem is there are several points in the recording where the VHS transfer must have been damaged, but those are relatively few.
10/31/87 Pine Street Theater Portland OR 1 FLAC notes source A nice little nugget of late Dinosaurs. If the 24 minute Mona doesn't do it for you, I don't know what will. It's a fine soundboard recording, and a fun show.
05/14/88 KFOY TV San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Very nice sound, if a little low on bass. It's a short and hot show! Last two tracks are filler from an unknown date and location: The Dance, Mona.

01/31/78 Polytechnic Leeds England 1 FLAC notes   Great sound quality and a fun little performance, although Southbound Again fades out. The unreleased songs are pretty cool, especially Real Girl, but all in all, the whole show is quite nice.
02/16/79 WDR Studio L Köln Germany 1 SHN notes   Some nice tunes from the first two albums, so you can't go wrong there. The spectral analysis of this boot looks a bit like mp3 or minidisc, but I've seen at least 4 versions of this show that all look the same, so I'll put it up here anyway. The sound is nearly flawless, and very clear.
03/03/79 The Bottom Line New York NY 1 SHN notes   Another great sounding early Straits concert. As usual, not much jamming, but plenty of great tunes, including the unreleased Eastbound Train.
04/01/79 The Boarding House San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   On disc with 6/11/88 Almost perfect sound, and a nice performance. Nothing groundbreaking, but the Eastbound Train rarity is good to have. All in all it's worth having.
12/19/80 Westfalenhalle Dortmund West Germany 1 FLAC notes   Great show with nearly perfect sound. The opening song, a ten minute Once Upon A Time is worth the disc by itself... everything else is just great!
06/29/81 Velodromo Vigorelli Milano Italy 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. How can you go wrong with the theme song from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly as the intro for the show? Sound is okay, just quite raw, but it rocks hard! By the end of disc one, I'm already wondering why the hell there aren't more recordings from this era out there? This is amazing music! Completely different than the Brothers In Arms or On Ever Street tour. This is real jazzy/improvisational stuff. And Telegraph Road! Amazing!
07/05/81 Werchter Festival Brussels Belgium 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. This is a pretty damn great show. This is the full show, audience and soundboard tracks. Most of the audience tracks sound nearly as good as the soundboards (SoS, PB, Where Do You Think You're Going, and Solid Rock sound nasty, but that's not a bad tradeoff for the quality of the rest of the songs).
12/13/82 De Montfort Hall Leicester England 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. The show starts with a strange but intriguing little intro, but it goes right into a great version of Once Upon A Time In The West. Knopfler's vocals are a little low, and you can tell it's an audience recording, but it's quite good for its age. There are a couple moments where it sounds like the tape got a little busted up, too. As for the show, this is a completely different Dire Straits than you hear at their peak. Great music, great soloing, and lots of songs that they never play anymore! And everything on here that you hear later in their career sounds completely different! It rocks! And they play all of the Love Over Gold album!
05/18/83 Stadthalle Vienna Austria 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. For an early 80's audience recording, this has fantastic sound! Clear as glass, and only a little audience noise. As for the show, it's the early Dire Straits sound that I love so much. This is the era before they were completely over the top, and they sounded fantastic! All sorts of rare songs, including that one you never hear- Twisting By The Pool- and different arrangements. That synth! Whoah! This is a great show. My only complaint, why the hell does the audience clap along with the song when it's as slow as Private Investigations or Romeo + Juliet? They're not clap-along songs!
07/10/85 Wembley Arena London England 1 SHN notes   A very nice soundboard recording with stereo sound. There are a few very small ticks here and there, though. It's a short and very very sweet performance.
08/05/85 Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls OH 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Generally great sound, though there are a few little warts here and there. The show is one of those classics from the BIA tour... you should have this. Illsley is particularly good during this show, too. Yay bass!
08/17/85 Southern Star Amphitheatre Houston TX 2 CDR notes   There is a more complete version of this show, but this one is quite nice. Great sound (except for a very light vinyl popping if you listen carefully on disc 2), and a great show, as always. Well worth repeated listening.
04/26/86 Entertainment Center Sydney Australia 2 SHN notes   Great show! The crowd is noisy, but never too bad. See Tech Notes for MD5 info.
06/11/88 Wembley Stadium London England 1 SHN notes   Clapton & Knopfler are right up front in the mix and it's an amazing performance. The best recording of Brothers In Arms I've heard so far. On disc with 4/1/79
08/23/91 The Point Depot Dublin Ireland 2 CDR notes   While the sound is a little distant and there is some distinct audience noise during some of the songs, this is without a doubt one of my two favorite recordings from this tour. The setlist is very different from the rest of the tour, including rare songs such as Iron Hand, Portobello Belle, Setting Me Up, and The Long Highway, which all rock quite nicely. The playing and improvisation is fantastic, as well. I wish Knopfler played around with his setlist like this more often, because this is just delightful.
09/18/91 Wembley Arena London England 2 CDR notes   Spectral analysis shows very low frequencies above 10k, so you might want to be wary of this recording. On the other hand, the sound isn't too bad (mostly just a bit hissy and tinny-there's barely any audience noise at all), and the performance is WILD! Planet Of New Orleans, Setting Me Up, and Tunnel Of Love are all wicked fun, not to mention all of the more commonly performed songs.
10/03/91 Palais Omnisports de Bercy Paris France 2 CDR notes   Not very good sound, but this show is way more intense than most of the other shows I've heard from this tour!
02/23/92 Continental Airlines Arena East Rutherford NJ 2 CDR notes   The sound quality here is at the low end of pretty good (if that means anything to you), but.... holy crap! Planet Of New Orleans is amazing when played like this, and I Think I Love You Too Much rocks! So, to elaborate, the sound quality leaves a little bit to be desired, and the performance quality is fantastic. The guitar improvisations are especially nice all over this show.
06/05/92 Earl's Court London England 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. The original bootleg underwent some noise reduction, but it's very subtle, and the sound quality is still VERY good. And holy crap! The performance is right up there with the Basel show, and this version of Telegraph Road may even rival the intensity of that one, except that the last two minutes are missing. Overall, it's another amazing show!
06/28/92 St. Jacob Stadium Basel Switzerland 2 CDR notes   This is probably my favorite Dire Straits recording, if not my favorite recording by any band. The sound is crisp and smooth, just perfect. The songs are superb and they just take my breath away every time I hear them. And, of course, there's a great pedal steel added to the usual fantastic Dire Straits sound. Missing Theme From Local Hero.
06/28/92 St. Jacob Stadium Basel Switzerland 1 SHN notes   Not nearly as good as the full show. Left channel is a little fuzzy, the recording is missing some great songs, and portions of others. On the other hand, what's here is still a fantastic performance. All the banter between songs has been edited out of this one.
07/16/92 Alsterdorfer Sporthalle Hamburg Germany 2 CDR notes   Great sound for an audience recording of this tour, very close to soundboard quality except for a little badly placed static and clicking. The performance is very similar to the soundboards from this tour, except for the inclusion of two amazing songs (When It Comes to You, and Tunnel Of Love). If anyone has a clean copy of this recording without the static and clicks, I'd love to hear it.
09/29/92 Les Arenes Nimes France 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discsc. Another of the amazing sounding OES soundboards. This one has another phenomenal Telegraph Road, tons of great solos, and my favorite performance of Money For Nothing- it just keeps rocking on and on and on. This is a wild show.
??/??/92 Unknown Unknown Europe 2 CDR notes   This recording came to me at 2/2/92, but that is obviously wrong. As far as I can find, the only difference between this recording and the On Every Planet bootleg is that "On Every Street" is split into two tracks, and Going Home is missing. On Every Street may not have been a great Dire Straits album, but the tour to support it was fantastic! This is a very solid show, with only a few problems.

04/29/88 Full Moon Saloon San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. The sound is nearly perfect - just a bit of background noise in the soundboard recording. 07/22/69 The Matrix San Francisco CA 2 SHN notes   Normally when I have two hours of jamming to listen to, I zone out and don't pay attention to it. This show is mostly jamming, and it's REALLY good. A little hissy, but nothing that detracts from the fun. Joey Covington and Jack Casady really sound great here, not to mention the Kaukonen bros.
12/31/70 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Pretty raw sound, but it's very good. The bass gets pretty heavy at points. It's a very fun show, and everyone seems to be in high spirits.
03/03/71 Chateau Liberte Santa Cruz CA 1 CDR notes   Mix jumps around a bit, but mostly the vocals and violin are so up front you can't hear the guitar. The recording is very clean, though, so this would be good if you like just listening to Papa John and not much else.
07/03/71 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   This is probably one of the best Tuna recordings I know of. Great sound, and a fantastic document of their Burgers era sound. If you want a good place to start listening to Hot Tuna, I think this is it.
04/03/72 Carnegie Hall New York NY 1 SHN notes source Jorma's guitar is pushed pretty far back in the mix. Everything else sounds fine. For me, though, the lack of any sound from the lead guitar just kills the recording.
10/02/73 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Very nice soundboard recording. Early acoustic show with many very nice renditions of now classic Tuna songs. There are lots of very little clicks, though.
05/08/74 SUNY Gym Stony Brook NY 2 FLAC notes source 3 Audio discs. Aside from a few very minor flaws, the sound is perfect. As for the performance, just listen to the first disc and you'll know why Jorma and Jack are two of the best musicians ever, and then you've still got two more discs after that. It's an amazing show.
04/05/75 Civic Center San Francisco CA 2 SHN notes source 3 audio discs. A great mix, though there is a buzz in the background during most of the songs that you can only hear when the music is quiet. There are also a few songs, starting on disc 2, that have a little residual sound of hiss removal (or at least that's what it sounds like to me, since I've tried that once or twice). Someone probably tried to get rid of the buzz, and left an even more annoying sound, though you can only really hear it on headphones. As for the show, Jack, Jorma and Greg make quite an amazing band, and this is a great example of this incarnation of the group.
04/27/75 Whitman Auditorium Brooklyn NY 2 FLAC notes source 3 audio discs. A very very nice performance! As always. Greg Douglass rocks quite nicely on that slide guitar, and Jack is in very nice form this night. The sound is a bit distant, and the vocals are very low, but the bass is nice and loud.
05/02/75 Harpur College Binghampton NY 2 FLAC notes source Missing Police Dog Blues, and Funky #7 has been moved up to after Easy Now. The sound quality is a little hissy/muddy, and there are a few tracks where one or both guitars drop out for a while. Greg Douglass and Jorma sure have some great guitar interplay in these shows, and it's fun to hear.
07/19/75 Convention Hall Asbury Park NJ 2 FLAC notes   3 audio discs. This is a good show, but I don't think it's from the date it says it is, and the setlist that came with it is slightly wrong. That aside, the sound quality is quite nice, and Douglass & Kaukonen do some great guitar playing, especially on the 10 minute I Know You Rider. CRAZY!
10/24/75 Palace Theatre Albany NY 3 CDR notes   Very nice taping job. There seem to be some veeeery quiet clicks here and there, but it might be my imagination. The music is loud and clear enough to drown those out. The music... it's nice. Electric Hot Tuna can be hit and miss, depending on the band and on the listener, but this one is way up there in terms of performance. In fact, this may be one of my favorite electric Tuna shows. It even sounds like most of the tuning between songs has been edited out without clipping any chatter or song ends.
11/22/75 Academy of Music New York NY 3 FLAC notes   4 audio discs. Four wonderful hours of loud, electric Tuna. The sound is great for an audience (I'm pretty sure it's an audience recording), and the performance is up to the usual standards of Tuna quality.
05/02/76 The Tower Theatre Upper Darby PA 1 CDR notes   A perfect recording and a great show. Only problem is that it doesn't match the md5 on etree.
09/11/76 Long Island Arena Commack NY 4 CDR notes   Vocals sound tinny, but the instruments are great. 4 and a half hours of great Hot Tuna. There is one dropout during the tuning track for about five seconds, but it doesn't interrupt anything important.
11/26/76 The Palladium New York NY 2 CDR notes   Partial set from radio broadcast, but that means awesome sound quality. Another fantastic Tuna show. Last three tracks are from the next night's performance, I think (Hot Jelly Roll Blues, Baby What You Want Me To Do, Talkin' About You).
05/28/77 Santa Clara Univ. Santa Clara CA 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs. Aside from the half hour of tuning that could have been cut out, this show is Faaaaaaantastic. As always. Pretty durned good sound, and some cool cool songs. The long rendition of Drivin' Around is great. I don't know why they don't play this more often these days, but then again, I guess anything they do sounds great, so rock on.
11/25/77 Palladium New York NY 3 CDR notes   Late show only, but acoustic and electric sets. With Nick Buck and Bob Steeler. Sound quality is nearly perfect. d1t13 is cut off for the last two minutes. There are three filler tracks on disc 3, I don't know where from: I See The Light, I Can't Be Satisfied, and Drivin' Around
01/23/88 Jannus Landing St. Petersburg FL 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This is a very nice little radio show that pretty much puts you right in the room with Jack & Jorma. Good stuff. Also included in the two discs are a Jorma solo set and a Jorma trio set from the same radio station in 1986 and 1999. The best thing about this show (the Tuna one) is that Jack doesn't shut up the whole time. The two Jorma sets are quite nice as well.
12/07/89 The Chance Poughkeepsie NY 2 FLAC notes   3 audio discs. A damn fine recording, and a pretty hot show. A full band plus Peter Kaukonen on second guitar makes for a pretty nice sounding show, and this one has quite a setlist as well. Good stuff!
12/08/00 Mystic Theatre Petaluma CA 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. Flawless recording of a very nice Acoustic Hot Tuna show. These guys just keep getting better!
12/01/02 Bardavon Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. First Hot Tuna show I attended. Great show and great audience recording.
11/30/03 Bardavon Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 1 FLAC notes source The volume on Jack's bass is pretty low until the beginning of Waiting For A Train, but this is because of the sound system, not the recording equipment. It was a very fun show, and it's a VERY clear recording. Barry Mitterhoff adds a lot to the sound of the acoustic duo, and they jammed out very nicely on most songs.
01/09/04 Fox Theatre Boulder CO 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A very fine recording and a nice show. I'll never get tired of any kind of Hot Tuna, especially the acoustic stuff with Barry. Holy crap!
01/10/04 Aggie Theater Fort Collins CO 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. There's some low level audience noise throughout the show, but damn it's a fine show! Each instrument is very easy to hear, which rocks. The guys sound like they're having a good time during and between the songs. It's a fun show. d2t03 has some electric noise in the beginning.
02/06/04 Rialto Theater Tucson AZ 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. Levels are quite low, and when the audience makes noise you can hear it pretty loud. The show is nice, as always with these guys.
07/19/04 Newburyport High School Newburyport MA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This is a beautiful recording of a great show. The bass is a little heavy, but since it's Jack, that's fine by me! The only "problem" is that a lot of the talking between songs is at the beginning of tracks. Not a big deal, since the guys seem to be in high spirits and having a good time. This is now one of my favorite Tuna shows... one of many.
11/19/04 Esplanade Park Fort Lauderdale FL 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Perfect sound quality, and goddamn if this isn't a fantastic show! There's just nothing that can come close to a good electric Tuna show, and this one is a nice 100 minutes of wonderful noises.
11/28/04 Bardavon 1869 Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 2 FLAC notes   This concert was the high point of the year for me. UNBELIEVABLE! And a fantastic recording, too! Kudos to Rob Clarke for that. And thanks to Jack & Jorma, Barry and Erik for such a rocking show. A fine time!
01/16/05 Skipper's Smokehouse Tampa FL 2 FLAC notes   Nice sound in a barroom atmosphere. The setlist for the acoustic set is pretty cool, with 99 Year Blues instead of Good Shepherd, and nice long jams on most of the songs. The electric set, like others from this tour, is mind blowing. Bow Legged Woman, Knock Kneed Man rocks the house right off its foundations.
01/27/05 The Tralf Buffalo NY 2 FLAC notes   3 audio discs. Another fantastic performance, both acoustic and electric. The sound leaves nothing to be desired, either. The shows from this tour are just mind bogglingly good!
07/15/05 The Stone Pony Landing Asbury Park NJ 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. An entire show with the electric band... this rocks! Not only is the setlist crazy and the musicianship astounding as always, but Rob Clarke's recordings are always very nice. There's a bit more audience nosie in this show than usual, but it only adds to the fun.
07/22/05 Newburyport High School Newburyport MA 2 CDR notes   Another great acoustic show, with a rare performance of Mann's Fate to round it out. Good sound, and all around good listening.
11/26/05 Beacon Theatre New York NY 3 CDR notes   As if last year's acoustic/electric tour wasn't damn good enough, this one just goes to show that these guys are pretty much the tighest and most exciting act out there. The acoustic set is fun and laid back, the electric set rocks harder than ever. The sound is quite nice as well.
11/27/05 Bardavon 1869 Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 2 FLAC notes   3 audio discs. Somehow, this is even better than the previous year's show. Tuna and the Bardavon go together quite well, and thanks to Rob Clarke's stellar taping job, this recording is up there among the best Tuna shows I've heard.

04/11/69 Concertgebouw Amsterdam Netherlands 1 CDR notes   Just the opening instrumental makes this show worth it for me. It rocks! And then you get some great ol' Joplin singing in the rest of the songs, along with some great musicians playing behind her. WHOAH! This band is some hot stuff.
08/08/70 Capitol Theatre Port Chester NY 1 SHN notes   Quite distant sound, but most of the instruments and vocals come through enough. And what a show it is! It's pretty surprising to hear such good musicians when I was only expecting a great singer.

07/04/93 Grant Park Chicago IL 1 CDR notes   Perfect soundboard recording, and a damn fine show! This fits into my category of "country music the way it's supposed to be," and these guys do that just right. The first 7 tracks of this CD are from New York 1995, also with perfect sound.
11/15/03 Gypsy Tea Room Dallas TX 2 CDR notes   Aside from the low volume, this is a very nice audience recording. A very delightful mix of country and rock sounds.

02/04/67 Fillmore Auditorium San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Practically flawless, high energy show. The mix is better than most JA shows of this era.
03/10/67 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Part of Ahuka's Choice volume 5, along with 3/11/67 and 3/12/67. All three have muddy sound, comparable to many Fillmore West shows of the time, but the performances are all joyfully intense. This one has the worst sound out of the three, with very muffled sound in most parts.
03/11/67 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Part of Ahuka's Choice volume 5, along with 3/10/67 and 3/12/67. All three have muddy sound, comparable to many Fillmore West shows of the time, but the performances are all joyfully intense.
03/12/67 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Part of Ahuka's Choice volume 5, along with 3/10/67 and 3/11/67. All three have muddy sound, comparable to many Fillmore West shows of the time, but the performances are all joyfully intense.
06/17/67 Monterey County Fairgrounds Monterey CA 1 CDR notes   Absolutely perfect sound, and a very high-energy show. Short and sweet.
08/04/67 O'Keefe Center Toronto ON 1 CDR notes   One electric buzz during It's No Secret, and She Has Funny Cars starts a few seconds into the song, but the rest of the show is flawless and great fun to listen to. Includes the Grateful Dead set from that night, which is also very good.
08/05/67 O'Keefe Centre Toronto ON 1 SHN notes   One of my favorite Airplane recordings. It's a great show with very very nice sound, and how can you go wrong with 67 Jefferson Airplane. The music's so happy!
12/31/67 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Came with the Quicksilver Messenger Service set from the same night. The recording sounds bad. It's a good performance, but it sounds like the original recording is just too old and damaged.
02/01/68 The Matrix San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   This is a pretty cool show. Much mellower than most others I have by this band, but at the same time there's lots of intense Jack/Jorma playing on all the songs, most notably on disc 2. The sound is quite nice, if a bit hissy.
05/18/68 Shrine Exhibition Hall Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   A slightly distant audience recording, and it hasn't aged very well. Everything is pretty muddy, though the performance is pretty good for JA. This is another one that'll go into storage for now.
10/26/68 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   The Spayre Change studio jam alone is worth getting this show. After that, there's a great, energetic live set and all of it has nearly perfect sound. This is quite a nice disc. Thanks to whoever found this one.
04/26/69 Swing Auditorium San Bernadino CA 1 FLAC notes   I wouldn't call it good sound, but it's not terrible either. The bass is extremely heavy, which isn't too bad, but the sound is a little distant. It's certainly listenable, and the show is pretty nice.
05/07/69 Golden Gate Park San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Knocking On The Golden Gate Bootleg On many tracks the guitars and bass are nearly inaudible (a crime when Jorma's playing) and the vocals are usually too loud, along with the drums. If not for the nearly silent guitars on so many good songs, this would be A+, but there are a lot of better JA boots out there. And to add insult, Won't You Try is cut. See tech notes for md5 info.
06/13/69 Family Dog At The Great Highway San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   The opening jam has quite a bit of hiss, but it is a pretty nice jam. After that there are some volume fluctuations that even out pretty quickly. Then it's a really nice show. Check out that lead guitar on Greasy Heart and Pooneil! oh yeah!
08/10/69 Central Park, Sheep Meadow New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Oh deary me, the sound quality is pretty ugly. Pretty much what you'd expect from a 35 year old audience recording, outdoors at a free concert no less. Well the show itself seems to have been pretty cool. Hell, the Santana set from the same show has a half hour of Santana jamming with Jorma & Jack. That's pretty cool!
09/06/69 Family Dog San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   There are a few digiclicks here and there, but the recordiing is perfect otherwise, and the mix is pretty good. Most of the set is pretty average, but the jams with Jerry and the few extended songs make the whole thing delightful.
10/25/69 Winterland Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   2 audio. Great mix in perfect stereo. One of the best JA recordings I've heard, with all the instruments in the spotlight. One discontinuity during Eskimo Blue Day (probably damaged source tape).
10/26/69 Winterland Ballroom San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   Very nice sound, although it's a little rough at the loud points. Pooneil is awesome, until it cuts out after eleven minutes. Only major problem for me is that Jorma's guitar drops out after a while. Good show otherwise.
02/04/70 Family Dog at the Great Highway San Francisco CA 1 DVD notes   The lighting isn't so great, but it's a good video of the Airplane and the Dead and Santana at a very good time for all of them.
05/01/70 Athletic Field - State University of New York Stony Brook NY 2 CDR notes   Pretty good sound, although Jorma is pretty far back in the mix and the vocals are pretty loud. The sound on 3/5 of a Mile is really messed up with tape warbling. As for the performance, there are some extended jams that are quite entertaining. An interesting listen because of the strange banter between songs, but not entirely exiciting.
09/14/70 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 2 SHN notes   Vocals are pretty quiet throughout the show, but the instruments shine through. Since most songs have long jams/solos that makes it a wonderful sounding show. 3/5ths is replaced by an interview with Jack Casady.
09/15/70 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   The volume is a little low, but this is a fantastic show. Opening with killer versions of Somebody to Love and Crown Of Creation, the high energy of this show never lets up! And Jack's bass is right up front in the mix, which is always nice.
10/04/70 Winterland Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes   Some small problems with some levels, but the vocals and Jack & Jorma are mostly clear, and it's an intense performance. This is, for Jorma, absolutely the best Airplane performance I've heard; he's on fire the whole time!
09/22/72 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   Pretty nice sound aside from a little hiss that increases a lot as the show goes on, but the music is nice and loud. It's an absolutely rocking show, though. There are a few digiclicks on the last track.

11/24/74 Winterland San Francisco CA 2 SHN notes   Mix is all messed up on the first track, and there are a few minor glitches here and there throughout the show. Sound is very clear otherwise, and it's a good show. Great to hear Starship before they departed too much from the good ol' Airplane sound.
05/12/75 Central Park New York NY 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. A nice show, although the mix is a little low on the instruments. That's okay, though. It's a fine recording, and a fine show. Filler from a 9/76 show at Winterland.
07/14/76 Colt Park Hartford CT 2 CDR notes   Quite nice sound, whatever the source may be. The concert is pretty entertaining, although it's just not the same as the Airplane. Of course, it's got more of that great Balin/Slick/Kantner sound, so it's got to be good.

11/04/70 Carnegie Hall New York NY 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Very intense show with perfect sound. This is the first Jtull show I've heard, and it's still the best I've heard. It's impossible to get tired of this stuff.
01/21/72 Essen Grugahalle Essen Germany 1 CDR notes   Sound is slightly distant, and there's some quiet audience noise during the songs.
03/16/72 Victoria Hall Stoke England 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. The sound is a little raw, but if it is indeed an audience recording it sounds very nice for its age. The show starts with an hour of Thick As A Brick, and progresses into even more nonstop tasty Tull for the second set. It's a pretty sweet show.
06/06/72 Arena Milwaukee WI 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Sound quality is just what you'd expect from a early 70's audience recording. The show is pretty cool, especially 70+ minutes of Thick As A Brick, and some other great songs.
08/15/76 L.A. Coliseum Los Angeles CA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Relatively thin and hissy sound for a soundboard recording, but everything comes through clear enough. As for the performance, it's quite nice... aside from that damn synth! Unless you like nintendo noises in Jtull music.
11/16/79 Santa Monica Civic Auditorium Santa Monica CA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A little muffled, but mostly perfect sound. This era of Tull isn't really my thing, but I'll say this: they are certainly fine musicians, and the classics are still classics, so it's an entertaining show.

02/24/69 Royal Albert Hall London England 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. This is a really nice show. Great sound quality, and one of the better Hendrix performances I've heard so far. The Room Full Of Mirrors jam with Mason & Wood just rocks my socks right off! The last track has some minor glitches here and there.
02/24/69 Royal Albert Hall London England 1 DVD-R notes   I'm not a big fan of this video... The sound is the same as the audio recording (perfect), but the video is more like a busy MTV video than a concert recording. If you're into that kind of thing, this should be your thing.
04/26/69 The Forum Inglewood CA 1 CDR notes   Great sound! It takes a few minutes for the show to get going, but once the music starts it rocks quite nicely.
??/??/69 "Lonely Ave. Outtake Masters" Studio Studio 1 CDR notes   Very nice sound, just a little hiss. Another really nice set of studio jams. There are some dull moments, but there are plenty of really great sounds here.

01/07/70 Studio Unknown Unknown 1 CDR notes   I got this show from the Lee Shore list (CSN) as a Stills-Hendrix jam session. The first two songs are the same as the ??/??/68 jam bootleg in Stills' basement, and the rest are rehearsals for Woodstock and Mannish Boy. 09/01/69 Texas International Pop Festival Lewisville TX 1 CDR notes   Loud and full of energy. It's a fun show, despite the sound being pretty raw, and the last song fading out before it's finished.
03/07/70 Olympic Auditorium Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Well the vocals are impossible to hear, but the instruments come through pretty well. There's some amazing guitar playing here (as always), but it gets a little muddled at times. In all, it's very nice to hear just that guitar.
02/01/71 Konserthuset Stockholm Sweden 1 CDR notes   Great sound, just a little static here and there. Right from the start it's a pretty intense performance. Very cool stuff. There are four tracks after the main show that might be filler from another show (one is another Jumping Jack Flash). Whatever it is, this is a really hot show!
04/25/73 Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto ON 1 FLAC notes   The recording is a bit raw, but there's a ton of energy as always, and fine guitar playing. Another fine set by Johnny and his band.
03/06/77 The Tower Theatre Upper Darby PA 2 CDR notes   Great soundboard recording of a very very good show. Very bluesy and very entertaining. Johnny Winter plays guitar like crazy, though not as rocking as usual, and Muddy's band rips it up alongside. It's a very good time.
11/15/78 Texas Opry House Houston TX 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Another high energy show, although the sound is a tad raw. Johnny spends a lot of time lecturing about the blues, which is pretty entertaining.
09/08/79 Park Meadows Racetrack Brookhaven NY 1 CDR notes   This is a sweet recording and another nicely done show. It's hard to choose which Johnny Winter shows are the best, so I'll just say this show is definitely worth having.
12/18/82 Uptown Theater Kansas City MO 1 FLAC notes   Sound is pretty raw, but this is one of the more energetic and exciting shows by Johnny that I've heard (and that's saying a lot, considering he's always very energetic). The bass and drums are right up front in the mix as well, so it's a good all-around listen.
12/04/86 Toad's Place New Haven CT 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A very nice soundboard of a wild show. Man, this guy can play the hell out of his guitar! It's a very upbeat bluesy show, and it's just fun the whole way through, especially that crazy jam on Don't Take Advantage Of Me. Whoah!
07/27/87 Starlight Theater Kansas City MO 1 FLAC notes   Really great sound, especially considering it's from the audience. And one hell of a show, too. Johnny plays with more energy than most musicians, and keeps it going for a looong time.
09/18/87 Commodore Ballroom Vancouver BC 1 FLAC notes   The vocals are pretty quiet, but who cares... it's another of those wicked good Johnny Winter shows that makes you wonder how he can keep up with that wild guitar playing without his arms falling off. A rockin good time.
08/23/88 Toad's Place New Haven CT 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Another wicked sweet show, with nice FM sound. There are a few small dropouts, but the performance more than makes up for anything. Freakin awesome.
08/04/90 The Channel Boston MA 1 FLAC notes   Pretty nice sound, a wild show, and a fun setlist. You can't lose with this one.
03/26/91 Cabooze Bar Minneapolis MN 1 FLAC notes   Nice soundboard quality with a nice mix. Johnny sure can wail on that guitar. Fun listening all around.
07/23/04 The Starland Ballroom Sayreville NJ 1 CDR notes   This show is much slower and laid back than the earlier Johnny shows on my list. He seems to have calmed down a bit, but there's still that sweet guitar playing like before. And a perfectly clean soundboard recording.

??/??/67 "The Great Lost Kinks Album" Studio England 1 CDR notes   Tracks 21-25 are pretty low quality, like from acetates. The rest sounds like it came from a pretty clean vinyl. As one can expect from a Kinks album, the music is some of the best out there.
11/??/69 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   This is some pretty awesome stuff. The sound is ragged, but this is the kinds like I always wanted to hear them. They rock out quite a bit, with some nice extended songs and guitar solos all over the place, and all around great songs.
11/13/70 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes   Another great show, though the sound still leaves a bit to be desired.
07/14/74 Hippodrome London UK 1 FLAC notes   Great sound, although most songs start a few seconds before the beginning of each track. It's a nice performance, as always. Not one of their best, but if you're looking for a good recording from this era, this would be a good place to start.
05/11/95 Shibuya Public Hall Tokyo Japan 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Pretty good sound, though the vocals are a little quiet. 09/02/00 Snow Ridge Ski Area Turin NY 2 CDR notes   The show starts with a pretty rocking Thela Hun Ginjeet and very nice sound quality. What follows may be my favorite Claypool show yet. Nicely recorded and very entertaining.
02/04/01 State Theatre Detroit MI 1 SHN notes source Quite a snazzy show. Great jams that don't get boring, and lots of entertaining banter. I think this is the first Les Claypool I've ever heard, and it's much better than I expected.

11/13/04 Funkbox Baltimore MD 2 SHN notes   A very nice recording, only a little crowd noise here and there, and the vocals are a little low. Once again, these guys put on a fun show, and do Pink Floyd as good or better than the originals. Good stuff!

08/09/76 The Keystone Berkeley CA 2 FLAC notes   Perfect sound quality, which is pretty rare for Man. As for the performance, I'm more partial to the 1999 Party Tour and Maximum Darkness as far as 70's recordings. The second disc of this show is wicked nice, though, since Cipollina shows up to spice up the performance.
07/30/99 Sudhaus Tubingen Germany 1 CDR notes   This show rocks pretty hard from the get-go. Great soundboard sound, and some really nice guitar work. Songs fade between tracks, so it might not be the entire show, but whoever made this disc picked some damn fine songs to put on here. The last two tracks are Spunk Rock from 8/28/99.
05/05/00 Sudhaus Tubingen Germany 3 CDR notes   Great sound, although the mix could be a little better at times. It's a fun show, although the older songs are definitely the highlights here. Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
03/22/72 Concertgebouw Amsterdam The Netherlands 2 FLAC notes   This is the full concert, not the Flying In Europe bootleg. Sound quality is much better the FiE, sounds like a very low gen soundboard (some songs have some hiss), and it's some of the best musicianship I've heard. Manassas was one of the best bands ever, as far as I'm concerned, and this is a must have for Stills fans. See J-card for setlist!
04/21/72 Gainesville Theater Gainesville FL 2 CDR notes   Very tinny sound and the acoustic guitars are nearly inaudible, but the performance is great (2 hours with a long 49 Bye-byes/FWIW jam). Very close quality to the 4/22/72 show, but the performance is much more energetic.
04/22/72 Pirates World Amusement Park Dania FL 1 FLAC notes   Stills is in a bit of a bad mood during this show, but the sound quality is one of the best out of the Manassas recordings I've heard. Vocals are very clear and the instruments are pretty good, despite some static and hiss during the performances. The performance is very nice, although there are a few moments where they falter on the lyrics. Change Partners is cut in the beginning, the second half of 4+20 is missing, and the first half of Do For The Others is missing.
05/15/72 Georgia Tech Atlanta GA 1 CDR notes   Short and very sweet set. Great sound for a Manassas show, and the version of Go Back Home is amazing. This show fits on the end of the 4/21/72 disc 2.
06/15/72 Musikladen Unknown Germany 1 CDR notes   So far this is the best live recording of Manassas I've heard. Too bad it's not very long, but there are two great jams towards the end that showcase the best features of Manassas. There are also five filler tracks from Stills 7/21/95 and one other show.
11/16/72 BBC TV London England 1 CDR notes   Comparable sound than many Manassas bootlegs out there, but it still leaves a lot to be desired, especially for a BBC broadcast. The recording is very muddy, though the vocals come through okay, and there are a few static bursts.
??/??/73 'Down the Road' Studio Outtakes Unknown Unknown 1 SHN notes   The sound is pretty good, as one would expect from old studio recordings. While imho the music isn't as great as their first album, it's still good Manassas, and they were an awesome band.

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
04/15/96 BBC Building London England 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A nearly perfect recording of a fine show. There's some barely audible static here and there. There are at least two rarely-played songs here, lots of cool guest musicians, and lots of great music.
06/08/96 Stadtpark Hamburg Germany 2 SHN notes   There is some distortion or static in the right channel on track 1, but otherwise the sound is perfect. Knopfler never disappoints with his live shows, so this is quite a treat. I'd recommend the 8/3/96 show over this one, but you ought to have this one, too.
06/12/96 The Globe Arena Stockholm Sweden 1 FLAC notes   A truly amazing show, if only parts of it. Great sound quality, great improvisation on all the songs, and some real great songs.
08/03/96 Théâtre Antique Vaison-La-Romaine France 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs Really nice sound (this is the new liberated bootleg I guess). There's just a tiny bit of barely noticable static once in a while. Once the set gets going, it really rocks. The band Knopfler plays with has an amazing chemistry that even Dire Straits never seemed to achieve. Almost all of the songs leave me completely in awe. Calling Elvis and Sultans of Swing are probably the best versions ever performed.
04/30/01 Beacon Theater New York NY 2 FLAC notes   Vocals are pretty low, but the music rocks! The sound is pretty nice other than the vocals, and a bit of an excited audience.
05/24/01 Saenger Theater New Orleans LA 2 FLAC notes   Knopfler's vocals can be a bit low, but the recording is great. The performance... WHOAH! The entire band just kicks ass! Walk of Life, What It Is, all the songs with Sonny Landreth... they all rock! Play this show often and play it LOUD.
06/26/01 Le Zénith Paris France 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Distant audience recording. The performance is quite nice, as always, and the sound is mostly listenable. Depends on your taste, I guess. There's some nasty reverb on the opening verse of Romeo & Juliet, but that's the worst of it.
07/29/01 Hartwall Arena Helsinki Finland 2 FLAC notes   This is supposedly one of the best audience recordings of the StP tour, and I'm not going to argue with that. In the first two minutes the audience gets kind of loud, but other than that the sound is quite clear throughout. The audience noise is mostly limited to clapping along with songs (as with every knopfler concert in the history of the world). The last four tracks seem to be from a different and slightly inferior source. As for the performance... well... it's Mark Knopfler. Do you have to ask?
07/23/02 Shepherds Bush Empire London UK 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This performance is very smooth and well done, as always. The sound is nearly perfect. This show may circulate as 7/24/02, but that date's setlist is slightly different. Check out Railroad Worksong for some really amazing guitar interplay.
04/17/05 The Ahoy Rotterdam The Netherlands 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. An absolutely beautiful recording and show! Way better than the audience recordings from the StP tour, and as always Mark just keeps getting better. The setlist for this show is about as good as you could ask for, though not too surprising. It's a good time, all around. On top of all of that, I'm pretty sure the rendition of Sultans on this tour is better than any I can remember.

03/06/70 Fillmore East (Early) New York NY 1 SHN notes   Wicked cool recording! You can hear its age, but it's not bad considering that. Mostly very clear sound. And it's a rocking show. It's nice to hear Whitten and Young jamming on these old classics.
02/27/71 Royal Festival Hall London England 1 SHN notes   Missing "Expecting To Fly" A great setlist and a great show. This is one of those great Neil acoustic shows that puts you right in the first row for a laid back and very enjoyable show.
01/08/73 Cobo Arena Detroit MI 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Sounds like it was taken from an old vinyl, or the analog master wasn't in great shape. It's listenable because the music is great, but I won't be playing it too often.
01/15/73 Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto ON 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. The sound is pretty good on this compared to other shows from this tour. There is a little evidence of hiss removal, but not nearly as much as on other shows I've heard. The performance is quite nice- lots of rare songs and just plain nice renditions. The bass gets to be way too heavy on the electric set.
11/03/73 Palace Theatre Manchester England 1 CDR notes   A little hissy and tinny, but damn is it a fine performance! All the new (at the time) material is unbelievable, and this is one of the best performances of Cowgirl In The Sand I've heard.
11/15/73 Queen's College (Early) New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A nice show, although as always with this tour the sound is pretty ragged. The guys put on a nice show, starting with that classic Don't Be Denied and going through a very sweet set. Worth a listen or two.

??/??/73 Time Fades Away Tour Compilation Various Various 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs. Great performances from a tour that is too hard to find. Generally the sound is surprisingly good, but there are some parts with too much hiss or audience noise. If you like Time Fades Away (and you should) you'll probably enjoy this.
??/??/75 Chrome Dreams Studio Compilation 1 CDR notes   A few small skips on Sedan Delivery, but everything else sounds as good as studio recordings should.
03/03/76 Aichken Taiikukan Nagoya Japan 1 FLAC notes   This is a 6 audio disc set of 3/3, 3/5, 3/6, and 3/8/76 in Japan. Each show is 2 audio discs or 1 FLAC disc, or all of them fit on 6 audio discs together. 3/3/76: Pretty hissy. The show is a little less exciting than some of the others in this set. This is the shortest electric version of Down By The River I've heard, which is kind of interesting.
03/05/76 Festival Hall Osaka Japan 1 FLAC notes   This is a 6 audio disc set of 3/3, 3/5, 3/6, and 3/8/76 in Japan. Each show is 2 audio discs or 1 FLAC disc, or all of them fit on 6 audio discs together. 3/5: The sound is not bad. A tiny bit of hiss and a little distant, but the audience is good about not making much noise during the performance, so it works out nicely. And it's quite an entertaining show. For some reason, the sound quality on the last three songs is quite ugly.
03/06/76 Festival Hall Osaka Japan 1 FLAC notes   This is a 6 audio disc set of 3/3, 3/5, 3/6, and 3/8/76 in Japan. Each show is 2 audio discs or 1 FLAC disc, or all of them fit on 6 audio discs together. 3/6: There are a few moments where you can hear people talking during the songs, but otherwise this is the best sound out of the four shows in this set. It's a hot show, too.
03/08/76 Kyuden-Kinen Taiikukan Fukuoka Japan 1 FLAC notes   This is a 6 audio disc set of 3/3, 3/5, 3/6, and 3/8/76 in Japan. Each show is 2 audio discs or 1 FLAC disc, or all of them fit on 6 audio discs together. 3/8: Quite hissy, and a few warts here and there. The show is nice, lots of songs that you don't see many other places, and a really nice version of Too Far Gone. Southern Man rocks a lot harder than usual, too.
03/19/76 Stadthalle Offenbach West Germany 2 CDR notes   Most of the second disc is filler from the Boarding House 1978 shows. Sound is very tinny and a little distant, though listenable. The sounds good except his voice is a little quiet. The filler is mostly better than the main show because of the small audience.
11/15/76 Auditorium Theater Chicago IL 2 CDR notes   Another show with great sound from a great tour. The volume seems to fluctuate a bit, but other than that it's a fine recording.
11/22/76 Music Hall Boston MA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs There's some audience noise, but during the songs it's very clear. A nice recording and a nice show. A very pleasant listen.
08/22/77 The Catalyst Santa Cruz CA 2 CDR notes   This is really cool. If it really is an audience recording, it sounds as good as SBD quality. The show is very cool, with Neil mostly playing guitar and not singing so much, but it's nice and laid back. It's certainly a unique period in Neil's career, and it makes me wish he did this sort of thing more often.
05/24/78 The Boarding House (Early) San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes   Here's another Neil acoustic show I thought was okay at first, and after re-listening a while later I've decided this show is amazing. The sound only leaves a little bit to be desired (there are some barely audible high frequency squeaks once in a while), but the show... Shots, Thrasher, My My Hey Hey, Ride My Llama, and The Ways Of Love are played for the first time ever at this show. And the small audience is having a blast. It's definitely a good listen.
05/27/78 The Boarding House (Late) San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   The sound is very clear, although there are a few problems like a dropout during Pocahontas and a few bumps on the microphone during the show. Other than that, it's another great Boarding House show with a bunch of songs you won't hear anywhere else. And Neil's audience interaction is just great. Probably one of the few times you'll hear him actually happily talking to the audience.
10/01/78 Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto ON 2 CDR notes   The sound is a little distant, and the crowd can be very loud at times. During the electric set the crowd is quieter, but the band sounds even more distant. But what a great concert it was!
10/23/78 The Forum Inglewood CA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. The source file that came with these SHNs says it's a SBD recording, but this is definitely an audience recording. A good audience recording, though. Just a little bit of low level chatter and tiny bit of that distant sound. It's a cool show, though. Quite nice! While the electric songs aren't as drawn out as they sometimes can be, they rock harder than ever.
09/25/84 KLRU Studios Austin TX 2 CDR notes   Another great soundboard recording. And how can you go wrong with Neil doing country! This is a nice hootenanny-like show and it's just lots of fun.
08/23/85 Zoo Amphitheater Oklahoma City OK 1 FLAC notes   Pretty good sound, with very little audience noise. The International Harvesters were a pretty cool band, and Neil pulls a lot of very nice songs out for this show. Grey Riders and Southern Pacific sure are delightful.
11/21/86 Cow Palace Daly City CA 2 CDR notes   This is a really amazing recording and a great show, but I just can't stand some of the silly banter between songs and the synths. 90% of this recording is perfect, though.
05/11/87 Tempodrom West Berlin West Germany 2 SHN notes   Very fiery performance. Just enough reverb to tell it's an audience recording, but the whole band rocks very hard from the get go.
05/28/87 Vorst National Stadium Brussels Belgium 2 SHN notes   Another very powerful show from the 87 European tour. Not as amazing as 5/11 or 6/2, but it's still great stuff. The sound is quite nice, with just a little audience noise here and there.
06/02/87 National Exhibition Centre Birmingham England 2 SHN notes   So far, this is my favorite Neil Young recording. Nearly perfect sound, just a little hiss, but the music is where it's at. Some of Neil's and Crazy Horse's best musicianship. You can practically feel the anger/frustration they were feeling during this tour through the music.
08/13/87 Pacific Amphitheater Costa Mesa CA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A very fun show, and a fine recording. Not quite as awesome as the shows from the European minitour from earlier that year, but Neil was clearly having a better time on this show. Fun stuff all around.
08/16/88 Poplar Creek Music Theatre Hoffman Estates IL 2 SHN notes   A raw soundboard recording, but it's a fine, fine performance. That twenty-minute Sixty To Zero is craaazy! And it's just fun music all around. Great stuff!
08/18/88 CNE Central Grandstand Toronto ON 2 CDR notes   Another fine show from the Bluenotes tour. The sound is very good for an audience recording, although not quite as good as 8/27. The performance is stellar, as it should be. The 18-minute Sixty To Zero really makes me wish he'd put the whole thing on Freedom.
08/27/88 Jones Beach Music Theater Wantagh NY 2 CDR notes   Perfect sound and a perfect show! So the first time I heard about the Blue Notes, I thought "Neil doing blues? Sounds boring!" And once again I stand corrected. I'm beginning to think that the years from 87-89 were Neil's best ever. Whoah this show rocks! If you haven't heard Ordinary People yet, you must. The last three tracks are filler from some other show.
01/13/89 Brady Theater Tulsa OK 1 CDR notes   A bit hissy, and not the complete show, but it is a soundboard recording from early 89, and any 1989 Neil Young is great as far as I'm concerned.
02/18/89 Eureka Municipal Auditorium Eureka CA 2 FLAC notes   Not perfect sound, but it's a rockin show. Neil and the boys put on a loud show with lots of great songs and they seem to be having a good time. Once again I say 89 was an amazing year for Neil. Too bad he didn't do more electric stuff that year, because this is proof that he could rock the house down.
02/21/89 Paramount Northwest Theater Seattle WA 2 SHN notes   It's an audience recording, and you can tell. The audience gets loud at times, but it's a very cool show. The electric set rocks very hard, especially since this is the first performance of Rockin in the Free World.
04/18/89 Entertainment Hall Sydney Australia 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. This is one of those shows that makes me yell "holy crap!" Ordinary People, No More, and pretty much every other song are unbelievable. The sound is better than the 2/21 show, but it's still far from perfect.
06/14/89 Jones Beach Music Theater Wantagh NY 1 CDR notes   Sound is very good, just a little crackly hiss all over, but it's quiet. The show is very well done, as with most of his 89 shows.
08/18/89 Pacific Amphitheater Costa Mesa CA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. There's some low-level audience noise throughout the show, and sometimes it gets to be a little louder, but generally the sound is very nice. Lots of different versions of songs, and lots of nice classic songs. I may even go so far as to say this is one of the best acoustic performances I've heard by Neil. Quite nice.
12/10/89 Muziektheater Stopera Amsterdam Holland 1 SHN notes   This is a really good show. Aside from the perfect sound quality, Neil's voice carries a lot of weight during the performance... just listen to the first Rockin' In The Free World you can hear loads of genuine emotion in those words. Damn good stuff.
12/13/89 Ahoy Sportpaleis Rotterdam Holland 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This is the complete show, with better sound quality than the previous bootleg I had (scrounging for quantity). As for the show, it's my favorite of the 89 acoustic shows because of all the rare and unreleased gems. Cocaine Eyes, Dreamin' Man, F**in up... they're all amazing!
11/13/90 The Catalyst Santa Cruz CA 2 SHN notes   Full show. Expands to 3 audio discs. Ooooh, this is hot! Over three hours of Neil & Crazy Horse rocking harder than ever! The sound on this source is a little better than Feedback Is Back, in my opinion. Sounds quite nice!
01/20/92 Paramount Northwest Theater Seattle WA 1 CDR notes   Missing Old Man. Sounds a little distant, and the crowd can be noisy at times, but everything comes through nicely ninety percent of the time. It's nice hearing the bare-bones versions of songs from Harvest Moon.
11/17/92 WTTW Studios Chicago IL 2 CDR notes   Nice soundboard quality, and a pretty mellow show.
09/18/94 Louisiana Superdome New Orleans LA 1 SHN notes   Pretty intense show right from the start. Sound quality is amazing, and it's just a rocking show. Very fun to listen to. The actual date of this show is 9/18/94 though.
09/18/94 Louisiana Superdome New Orleans LA 1 SHN notes   A fantastic show with perfect sound (except piece of crap, which is from an audience source). I'd say this is possibly one of the best electric Neil recordings of the decade... one of many, of course.
10/01/94 Shoreline Amphitheatre Mountain View CA 1 SHN notes   Pretty good audience recording, just a little audience chatter throughout, and it's a fine fine show. Check out that feedback from the acoustic guitar on Change Your Mind. Nice!
10/02/94 Shoreline Amphitheatre Mountain View CA 1 SHN notes   A soundboard of a great Neil show. The performance is almost the same as the previous day's show, except slightly less impressive. I'd say go for 10/1/94 first.
10/03/94 Complex Recording Studios Los Angeles CA 1 SHN notes   Hempsall tree version. The studio sessions are quite nice, although I'm not sure they add anything to what's on the Sleeps With Angels album. The filler is kind of boring. All perfect sound, though.
10/22/94 Hamilton Warren Amphitheater Sedona AZ 1 SHN notes   Another fantastic show and a very nice recording. Change Your Mind and Cortez are always great, but I'm pretty sure they're even better than usual on this show.
??/??/94 Rock 'N' Roll Cowboy: A Life on the Road 1966/1994 Various Various 4 CDR notes   Now I see what all the hullabaloo is about. This is easily the best compilation bootleg I've ever heard. Amazingly chosen songs, and each one sounds better than the other recordings of those shows that I've heard. Just the first disc is worth the effort of getting this, and there's a lot more after that.
08/26/95 Royal Society Showgrounds Dublin Ireland 2 SHN notes   Sound is fairly distant, but play it loud and it'll rock. I know a lot of people think Neil Young + Pearl Jam is blasphemous or something, but it's something different and very entertaining. Well worth a listen or two. The recording is in a different order than the actual performance.
05/09/96 Catalyst Santa Cruz CA 2 SHN notes   Play it loud. If you can't get enough Neil & Crazy Horse, this might satisfy you. Lots of long solos and nice songs. Sound is a little distant and thunderous, but that can be a good thing.
05/23/96 Old Princeton Landing Princeton By The Sea CA 2 SHN notes   Another really loud show to satisfy your craving for electric Neil Young. Vocals can be a bit low at times, but that's about the only problem.
07/07/96 Werchter Rock Festival Werchter Belgium 2 FLAC notes   Ooooh man this is great. Perfect sound quality, great show with lots of tasty nuggets, and a few nice new songs.
07/09/96 Waldbuehne Berlin Germany 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. Wow. Two more songs and this would have everything from Rust Never Sleeps... Really great sound for an audience recording, and it's a fun show. You can hear the audience during the acoustic parts of the show, but it's not very bad.
05/19/97 Catalyst Santa Cruz CA 2 SHN notes   That's a pretty killer setlist! Lots of stuff from Mirrorball, and he even brought back Don't Be Denied. Pretty crazy. The sound is not bad... pretty heavy bass and slightly murky sound. It's a good show, though.
08/08/97 Great Woods Center For The Performing Arts Mansfield MA 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Very good sound, if a little distant. The show rocks very hard, as Crazy Horse always should. Every song here is performed with a lot of energy, and it's just a good time all around.
09/19/00 Red Rocks Amphitheatre Morrison CO 2 CDR notes   Perfect soundboard sound (no way this is an audience recording), and a great show. Neil should do more tours like this one, with a badass country-rock backing band. This is a wicked cool show in every which way.
01/20/01 Cidade do Rock Rio de Janeiro Brazil 2 CDR notes   First 1:34 of d1t1 have very low vox and heavy drums, but it gets to be nearly perfect after that. Like A Hurricane and Rocking In The Free World are one track (a half hour of great fun). Turn this one up to 11.
07/24/01 Ahoy Hall Rotterdam The Netherlands 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs. For an audience recording, this has pretty amazing sound quality. There are lots of long solos and hard rocking songs here, and it goes on for quite a while.
10/27/02 Shoreline Amphitheatre Mountain View CA 1 SHN notes   Very nice taping job, and some good acoustic numbers. Pretty cool to hear Falling From Above before anyone had any idea what Greendale would be.
04/29/03 Congress Centrum Hamburg Hamburg Germany 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs Another very pleasant acoustic Greendale show. There are a few very minor sound problems, mostly on the first track. Good music, as always, with a particularly nice Cortez.
05/23/03 Koningin Elisabethzaal Antwerp Belgium 1 FLAC notes   3 audio discs. Very amazing sound for an audience recording. The crowd is almost entirely silent during the performance, except for a few coughs and shouts (the audience sounds like it wasn't expecting two hours of Greendale). Neil tells the whole story of Greendale between songs, and the audience is very respectfully patient.
06/13/03 Bonnaroo Music Festival Manchester TN 2 SHN notes   Perfect sound, and a damn fine concert. Be The Rain is a fine addition to the Crazy Horse setlists, and hopefully he keeps playing it. This is a good example of one of those loud electric Neil shows with extremely long instrumental passages that sound just fine to me.
10/24/04 Shoreline Amphitheatre Mountain View CA 1 CDR notes   Perfect sound, considering it's an audience recording in an amphitheater of an acoustic show. These tapers are pretty amazing. Great show, and a nice mellow set for any acoustic Neil fans.

You can't! Now... I don't know if all the people who say "Robert Randolph is the greatest pedal steel player" have ever heard Buddy Cage, but this dude can rock!
10/07/05 Joyous Lake Woodstock NY 2 FLAC notes source Aaah, this was a wonderful night. A kickass band playing in a pretty small venue for hours. That Portland Woman > Willie jam rocked the house, as well as Take A Letter Maria, and just about everything else. The recording captures the atmosphere and clarity perfectly. This will remain as one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and one of the best recordings I have.

05/15/90 The Maltings Snape UK 1 CDR notes   A less complete version of the show than usually circulates, but it's still perfect sound and a great show.
05/15/90 The Maltings Snape UK 1 VCD notes   A great little video of a fun little band. Knopfler and everyone perform amazing tunes for a small audience, and there's footage of an interview about the band at the end of the video. Great stuff!
07/06/93 City Hall Newcastle U.K. 1 CDR notes   Stellar sound quality, and a nice little show from one of Knopfler's best periods. This is just a good timey band playing for fun, and they sound great.
07/23/98 Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club London England 2 FLAC notes   A pretty good audience recording, and it's a fun show right from the start. There's some low level audience noise through the show, but it's an entertaining show. I get the feeling this is what Dire Straits would have sounded like if they'd gone in the direction of their first two albums instead of Love Over Gold and Brothers In Arms. Cooool stuff.
07/22/99 Ronnie Scotts Club London England 2 CDR notes   A bit muffled sound, but generally good. The show is great, just like the previous year's Ronnie Scott's shows. Nice club atmosphere and laid back music. Too bad Knopfler doesn't do this kind of stuff more often.

04/29/70 KQED TV Studios San Francisco CA 1 DVD-R notes   This dvd is fantastic! Great tunes, perfect sound, and man are these guys creepy... The visual effects aren't overblown like some recordings of that era, but they're just enough to accentuate the crazy tunes.
10/17/71 Convention Hall San Diego CA 2 CDR notes   This is one of the best Floyd audience recordings I've heard, not to mention one of the best Floyd performances I've heard. This two-disc set is quite a doozy. The filler may not be necessary, but it rocks anyway.
11/16/71 Lisner Auditorium Washington DC 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. About average sound quality for early Floyd. There are some clicks here and there, possibly from vinyl.
05/02/72 Carnegie Hall New York NY 1 SHN notes   Second set only. This is the "upgrade" version. Great sound for any period Floyd, and boy is it a fun show. The bass is a little heavy and what few vocals there are can be low, but how can you go wrong with a set of songs that are this awesome?
03/11/73 Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto ON 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs. The vocals are a little scratchy and the instruments sound a little distant, but for an audience recording from the time it sounds very nice. The performance quality makes up for any problems in the sound quality.
11/04/73 Rainbow Theatre London UK 1 CDR notes   Very nice sound, if a bit distant. There is a small amount of crowd noise during the show, though nothing very bad. There are some points where the bass drowns everything out, which sounds terrible, but there aren't too many of those.
11/16/74 Empire Pool London England 1 SHN notes   DSotM only, perfect sound quality. The performance is good, nothing ground-breaking compared to the album, although ACYL rocks out a lot.
06/28/75 Ivor Wynne Stadium Hamilton ON 2 CDR notes   Instruments come through very well, though the bass is not very prominent in the mix. The vocals are mostly perfect. As for the performance, this has some of the best versions of a lot of songs that I've heard, especially Any Colour You Like. A great show. I'm looking for a version with better sound quality on the second disc, and hopefully not the audience noise on Echoes (Steel Breeze maybe?).
05/09/77 Oakland Coliseum Oakland CA 2 CDR notes   The sound is great if you turn the volume up a bit. The only major flaws are a few small volume fluctuations after d2t3, and three loud bumps during Wish You Were Here.

??/??/66 Unknown venue Unknown Unknown 2 CDR notes   Unlike most compilations, the sound quality doesn't vary much. It's almost all very good quality, and a great look at the highlights of QMS's heyday.
02/04/67 Fillmore Auditorium San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   The sound is very similar to the 3/19/67 show: there's a little bit of hiss but otherwise a great soundboard recording. The sound is only slightly muddier than 3/19/67, and the performance is great as always. The second half of disc 2 is from the 2/5/67 show which sounds like the original recording is a little more damaged than the night before. d1t5: tape error at 4:02.
03/19/67 The Matrix San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes source Some tape hiss due to deterioration of the original recording, but Cipollina's guitar is right up front in the mix. Converts to 2 CDR
05/30/67 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes source Ooh, this one's not easy on the ears. Sound quality is in the "barely-listenable" range. Pretty good show, though.
12/31/67 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Came with the JA set from the same show, and has three filler tracks from Jefferson Airplane 3/26/70 on Dick Cavett show. The sound quality for the entire disc is very bad.
04/06/68 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Starts out with bad hiss and some bad noise, but it gets a little better. The sound quality is not great, but it's a fun listen.
04/14/68 Carousel Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes source The vocals are a little loud, but the recording is very clear compared to most QMS shows of this period. The closing jam rambles a lot though it has many fine moments.
06/07/68 Fillmore East New York NY 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. The best live QMS recording I've found so far. It has everything you could want from the band from the long jams to the short & sweet folky songs, and in perfect sound quality. For more info see http://members.tripod.com/~lysergia_2/lamaQuicksilver.htm
08/25/68 Fillmore San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Sound is pretty muddy, especially vocals, but clear enough to hear the best parts. As always with QMS, it's an amazing performance.
11/07/68 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes source Great soundboard recording, sounds like it's from the same sessions as Happy Trails, so it's a great performance as well (needless to say).
11/??/68 Fillmore West San Francisco ca 1 CDR notes   San Franciscan Nights vol 5 The Moby Grape section sounds very muffled, sadly. Two long jams have lots of potential with this band, and with the bass turned down you can almost hear how great they were. The QMS set sounds superb, with some of their best songs, all stretched out with long jams.
12/31/69 Winterland San Francisco CA 1 SHN notes source Not the most exciting QMS show I've heard, but good enough to listen to once in a while. The mix is generally decent.
12/??/69 Studio Corte Madera CA 1 FLAC notes source Another low gen, great sounding rehearsal reel. Lots of takes on Subway, and lots of starting over on each song, so you get a lot of Dino. Not much jamming.
03/21/70 Olympic Auditorium Los Angeles CA 1 FLAC notes source I edited this a little bit and brought the sound from a low B to medium B+ (if that means anything to you). It is indeed one of the hottest QMS shows I've heard, and that's saying a lot since I don't much like the Dino Valenti version of the band in general. It's a great show. This version of Edward the Mad Shirt Grinder is particularly hot.
06/13/70 Civic Auditorium Oahu HI 1 SHN notes source Very enjoyable show. My main complaint is the lack of Mona or WDYL, but it's still good stuff.
12/31/70 Kabuki Theater San Francisco CA 2 SHN notes source One of the better 1970 QMS recordings I've heard. Sound quality is almost perfect (just some light hiss here and there), and there are lots of long instrumental passages. Good stuff.
??/??/71 "Cavalry" bootleg various CA 1 SHN notes   Sound quality is very nice. The Fillmore West 1968 tracks sound pretty familiar, but those sessions are on tons of QMS recordings because they rock so much. The rest isn't quite as nice, but still good.

10/08/79 Old Waldorf San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes source A very short set, but man is this a good show. Buddy Cage and John Cipollina playing crazy guitars all over, and some good country-ish tunes that you can't hear too many other places. And the best part is the sound, which is nearly perfect. 11/13/68 The Matrix San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes   Very nice sound quality for its age. The show is short, but quite nice. Four songs that add up to over 40 minutes of jamming. How can you go wrong?
08/10/69 Sheep Meadow New York NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. See Jefferson Airplane 8/10/69. It's from the same recording. Not exactly easy on the ears, but again I say: Santana jamming with Jorma & Jack. Goddamn! The last three tracks are better sound since they're from Bell Telephone Hour TV show.
10/21/69 Ludlow's Garage Cincinnati OH 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Quite nice! Perfect soundboard recording, and it's just a very nice show. Lots of jamming, which I'm pretty sure is the best thing about Santana. Just listen to that good ol' organ and bongos!
10/14/70 Capitol Theatre Port Chester NY 1 CDR notes   Nice sound, and a great set. It's not the best soundboard recording you'll find, but well worth checking out. Santana from this period can't disappoint.

08/14/93 Metro Chicago IL 1 SHN notes   Not the complete concert: missing Soma, Spaceboy, Starla, Bury Me, Siva, Drown, and Bye June. The bass drowns out the other instruments a little bit sometimes, but all in all it's a great show. The SNL filler sounds slightly worse than the rest (strangely, since it's a tv broadcast), but that doesn't take away from the rest.
08/25/95 Reading Festival Berkshire UK 1 SHN notes   Not the entire show: missing Ode To No One and Geek USA. A very loud & energetic show, and it sounds great. The quality isn't perfect, but it's close enough.

The crowd is pretty terrible during the acoustic set, despite the great guitar-work and singing. The jamming on The Treasure would be amazing if the sound quality was a little better.
10/04/76 Unknown Portland OR 1 SHN notes   Stephen Stills playing acoustic guitar. That's about all I need to say because he's awesome. Sound is great, and this show is on one disc with the 1/9/77 show. Good stuff.
10/25/76 The Palladium New York NY 1 SHN notes   On disc with 10/4/76. Another great sounding and quite nice Stills set. His late 70's songs were hit and miss, but it's a great listen anyway. Treetop Flyer and Four Days Gone alone are worth the price of admission.
11/07/76 McAlister Auditorium New Orleans LA 1 FLAC notes   A pretty good soundboard, if a little deteriorated with age. It's another fine acoustic/slightly electric performance by Stills, which makes it nice all around.

10/30/83 The Hollywood Palace Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Lots of small clicks and light static, but the volume of the instruments drowns those out pretty well. Aside from that and a little tinny noise it's a nearly perfect recording. Filler is a weak AUD recording of voodoo child from unknown date/location.
08/17/84 Le Spectrum Montreal QC 2 CDR notes   Another great sounding SRV show. You really can't go wrong with this guy: great guitar playing, a tight band, and the show is fun listening. The last three tracks are filler from various performances.
01/24/85 Shiba Yubinchokin Hall Tokyo Japan 2 CDR notes   Perfect soundboard quality, and a very hot performance. I really like the version of the band with Wynans on keyboards, but this show reminds me that SRV can handle lead pretty damn well! Just an amazing guitarist. This version is missing Sky Is Crying and Dirty Pool.
01/24/85 Shiba Yubinchokin Hall Tokyo Japan 1 DVD-R notes   Pro-shot video, and it's a fine show at that. Except for those pants...
09/01/85 Seattle Center Coliseum Seattle WA 1 CDR notes   Missing Ain't Gone & Give Up On Love. The sound is very nice, and the show is great as always. And Bonnie Raitt plays a pretty mean slide guitar to complement Stevie Ray and Reese Wynans.
12/31/86 Fox Theater Atlanta GA 1 CDR notes   The sound is a little hissy, and there are a few small digipops here and there. Starting on Life Without You, the hiss gets a little louder. Other than that, the sound is great and the performance is quite nice. According to the SRV gig database, the last three tracks are Tore Down, Rude Mood, and Oreo Cookie Blues.
03/25/87 The Ocean Center Daytona Beach FL 1 FLAC notes   Great sounding recording. The band is in better shape than usual, as far as I can tell. The guitar and keyboards come through especially well in the mix.
06/30/87 Mann Music Center Philadelphia PA 1 CDR notes   incomplete show... missing Life Without You and a little bit of Scuttle Buttin'. Other than that, it's a great soundboard recording with another hot performance.
12/29/88 The Stone Pony Asbury Park NJ 2 FLAC notes   What an amazing recording!!! The only sound problem is that there's a cut in the middle of Life Without You (huge bummer, since it's right in the middle of one of my favorite guitar solos ever). The entire band plays like crazy, and the result is over two hours of pure awesomeness.
07/30/89 Legends Chicago IL 1 CDR notes   Last two songs are one track. This show is amazing! Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan jamming like hell. You've got to hear this.
10/10/89 Austin City Limits Austin TX 1 CDR notes   On the first track the guitar is a little low in the mix, but after that it evens out and the sound is exceptional. The performance is amazing, and just keeps getting better to the very end.

08/25/90 Alpine Valley Music Theatre East Troy WI 1 SHN notes   Another great latter day SRV show. His second to last, in fact. Damn shame. He puts on a great show here, and perfect soundboard quality. A few songs fade out, but what is here certainly rocks.

07/07/76 Providence Civic Center Providence RI 2 SHN notes   Sound is very good for an audience recording from the time. A little distant, but that's to be expected. I have no idea which is right, but it's a great show either way.

03/21/70 Olympic Auditorium Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Absolutely rocking show. Sound is just a tiny bit muddy because the show is loud, but this is a very crank-able show. Alvin Lee's guitar work is a wonderful thing. After listening many times, it sounds like the first five tracks are from the same shows that make up the Live At The Fillmore East CD, but I'm Going Home and Help Me are different. Anyone else notice this?
03/17/71 PalaEur Rome Italy 1 CDR notes   Pretty rough sound. Too bad, since it sounds like it could be a killer show. I'd sure love to get some good recordings of early TYA. The setlist on this show is enough for me to want a soundboard recording real bad.
08/28/83 Reading Festival Reading UK 1 CDR notes   Vocals are a little distant, but everything else is great. Not as much long jamming as one might be used to for TYA, but there's enough energy in the performance to make up for that.

04/18/03 The Wiltern Los Angeles CA 1 FLAC notes   Another great performance by Corgan and Co. Aside from some audience screaming between songs, it's got nearly perfect sound. Mary Star Of The Sea is a great way to open a concert. Fun stuff.
