Gary Brooker and Friends: "The Last Fling" was the final ever concert at Guildford's Civic Hall, a place that has provided live entertainment down the years since it's opening in 1962. The famous venue is to be either refurbished or redeveloped to provide Guildford with a state-of-the-art new entertainment venue. The concert was billed as "Gary Brooker and Friends".

Judie Tzuke opened the show with a half-hour set, followed by Kenney Jones and the Jones Gang for an hour of power rock classics, featuring songs by The Who, The Faces, Rod Stewart, Bad Company, and many others.

Top of the bill was Gary Brooker, starting after 10pm with his regular band No Stiletto Shoes with an instrumental, followd by two other numbers. Then it was time to get the first guests on stage. Beverly Skeete, familiar from Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, and Colin Blunstone joined on a few numbers. On came ex Manfred Mann's Paul Jones for the next couple of songs. At the end of "Two fools in love", Gary Brooker announced Eric Clapton to a very howl of delight from the audience. Eric remained on stage for the rest of the evening, unlike all the other guests, who came and went. So Eric became part of the fixed line-up. Other guests were Alvin Stardust, Leo Sayer, and Pete Solley.
