OldNeumanntapr It rained that weekend and was cold in Sacramento. This was my second Dead show and the 1st that I recorded, though I didn't have good recording equipment yet and the recording was less than stellar. I shot some slides that weekend of the band and of the scene inside the taper section with all the umbrellas over the mic stands! The 'Cold Rain & Snow' opener was particularly appropriate! It was nice to hear 'The Race Is On', too, in honor of the Kentucky Derby which was happening that day. The 'Scarlet->Fire' to open the second set was nice. I remember thinking that the stands in Cal Expo were not that full. That was the weekend that the gas cloud from Chernobyl passed over California. I wonder if that had anything to do with it! Bobby broke a sting at the end of the second set so there was no encore. They opened Sunday with Saturday's encore.
