I'll Take A Melody Tore Up Over You Russian Lullaby Mystery Train
Jerry Garcia Band Unknown Venue Unknown Date, ca. 1976-1977 End of set 1 Unlabeled sbd tape of the Godchaux-era JGB with a second guitarist. The likeliest time frame is late 1976 through spring 1977, because the band seemed to be experimenting with second guitarists around this time. If people want to try to sleuth out likely dates, I would encourage them to 1) compare this guitarist with the person playing on 11/20/76, who may or may not be the guy playing January-April 1977; 2) verify Tutt drumming? That would rule out 1978, though that's already unlikely since Maria is not present. 3) Check out John's bass feature in Russian Lullaby. Compare to its development over these years. 4) Other ideas? Jerry Garcia - electric guitar (lead), vocals; John Kahn - electric bass; Keith Godchaux - piano; Ron Tutt - drums; Donna Jean Godchaux - vocals; guest: unidentified - electric guitar (rhythm).
