This recording is from their only stop in New Brunswick. They played in the city of Moncton, which is within a 2 hour drive of New Brunswick's other largest cities (Saint John and Fredericton). Unfortunately the Moncton show was far from being sold old, but the fans that made it were enthusiastic enough to make up for the empty seats. Moncton is also within a 2 hour drive of Charlottetown,PEI and Halifax,NS.. two other cities the Stripes played on this tour, and I think that accounted for some of the empty seats. When a band plays Moncton, usually fans travel from PEI and parts of Nova Scotia, but this time it was not necessary. Also, it was a weeknight, not a weekend. Despite the attendance, it was a great show. I would rate this recording an A or A- (when compared to other audience recordings). I was in a good taping spot, there is a very good mix of guitar, vocals, and drums. The only downside of the recording are songs when Jack would use the "dual mic" (not sure what it's called), his voice would only be on one speaker stack at a time and I was much closer to the right stack, so when his vocals are on the left stack, it's very distant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Some standout moments in the show are the following: -During "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", the audience was singing along and Jack stops, and smiles, and says "Check out Moncton, Meg!" (0:49 mark). -Long intro to "Seven Nation Army" as Jack gets up on the platform, to stomp along to the beat, creating a dust cloud (baby powder?) behind him. This doesn't sound as interesting as it was to watch. -During the encore Jack makes a few references to Meg having just put biscuits in the oven and being concerned that they were going to burn. -My personal favourite music moment of the show was the transition from "Why Can't You Be Nicer to Me?" to "I'm Slowly Turning Into You". I loved the keyboard/organ he was using and it sounded amazing. The recording captures it well, but it's never quite the same as being there. -At the end of the show, they waived the New Brunswick flag (see the pictures). The audience loved it. There are many other great moments as well, but these are just a few that come to mind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Attached I have also enclosed many pictures from the show. I didn't take any myself, but 'borrowed' them from other sources. - Michael (friend) - riotact (locals.ca forum) - goldenmember, whiffonme (littleroom forum) Also attached are pics/scans from newspaper, ticket stub and the Rob Jones poster created specifically for the Moncton show. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE TRADE FREELY!!!
