This is a compilation of selected tracks from larger Jimi Hendrix Studio 70 Sessions - 12 CDR set. SESSIONS ? Jan 18 1970 to Feb 16 1970 Record Plant or Unfinished Electric Lady Studios, NY. Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, Buddy Miles (Band Of Gypsys) Eddie Kramer (sound engineer) SESSIONS ? May 1970 to Aug 22 1970 Unfinished Electric Lady Studios, NY (officially opened Aug 27 1970) Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell (Reformed Experience) Eddie Kramer (sound engineer) GUEST MUSICIANS: Ken Weaver (guitar), Stephen Stills (piano), Paul Caruso (harmonica), Juma Sutan (bongos). Jimi spent many hours with band members recording countless hours of material prior to the Electric Lady Studios official opening. Some session material recorded here later used on The Cry Of Love, which was completed by Eddie Kramer and Mitch Mitchell in 1971 after Hendrix?s death on the 18th Sept 1970 aged almost 28.Other material from these sessions also appeared later on First Rays of the New Rising Sun and finally South Saturn Delta, which found a place for some of Jimi's uncomplete work, some stuff previously unavailable after Cry Of Love, Rainbow Bridge, and War Heroes were deleted from Hendrix catalogues.

"TWO GUITARS ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT" [aka: Jimi's Private Reels Vol.1] Label: DANDELION (DL 129) These great tunes were recorded by Jimi Hendrix himself with an unknown guitarist, some mention Taj Mahal, but this is dubious, as are the date & place of the performance. It could be Shokan House in mid/late 1969 or Jimi's New-York apartment on January 21, 1970.

Lord I Sing The Blues For You And Me Dancing Blues Cherokee Mist Country Blues (with harp) Cherokee mist-In From The Storm-Valleys Of Neptune Ezy Ryder (instrumental) Valleys Of Neptune (instrumental) Hendrix - Young Jam
This is a sort of companion to the Blues Project tracks. These tracks were given by Alan Douglas on DAT to a certain radio station for a special on Jimi. Tracks 1-7 are from that DAT master. The Hendrix-Young Jam (probably 2nd gen) is not from the KPFA tapes but it's been added here to make up the playing time, compare the quality of this version with the one that's been seeded on the jazz forum from the bootleg release.

This is the last interview that Jimi Hendrix ever gave, he would die one week later to the day. Hendrix had been touring in the United States since late April 1970, playing mostly weekend dates. In early summer he began to record at his new studio as Electric Ladyland as final touches were being put on the facility. Good progress was being made toward a new album, possibly double album that may have come out during the Christmas holidays. The U.S. tour ended in Honolulu on Aug. 1 and after spending some time off in Maui he went back to New York to record. An official opening for the studio came Aug. 26. The next day Hendrix flew from New York to London to play the Isle of Wight. After the Isle of Wight, it was then onto scheduled dates in Stockholm Aug. 31, Gothenburg Sept. 1, Aarhus Sept. 2, Copenhagen Sept. 3, W. Berlin Sept. 4, Isle of Fehmarn Sept. 6, Rotterdam Sept. 13 and Vienna Sept. 22. After the show in Gothenburg someone spiked bass player Billy Cox's drink with acid and he had a bad trip that turned into paranoia and feared someone was intent on killing him and Jimi. He played a few more dates, but after Fehmarn, the rest of the tour was cancelled and Cox was flown back to the U.S. Jimi returned to London for his final days and gave this 30-minute interview to journalist Keith Altham, who had known him since he first arrived in London in 1966.

Band Of Gypsys (ATM DVD 003 Rev.A/2004/DVD-R) (Fillmore East, New York City 01.01.70 [1st Show] (B&W footage edited from the Blom and Vasulka video sources) plus "Top of the Pops", BBC Lime Grove Studios, London 10.05.67 ["The Wind Cries Mary" (4)] / TTG Studios, Hollywood 29.10.68 ["Gloria" ( )] / Fillmore East, New York City 31.12.69 [2nd Show] [Colour footage filmed by Amalie R.Rothschild] ["Stepping Stone" (14) / "Fire" (66) / "Ezy Rider" (15i)]) Very Low Gen notes: - Upgrade of ATM DVD 003; Audio / video synch problems in "Machine Gun" (12) have been corrected. - About the Fillmore East B&W footage: 1) Edits / cuts from camera shots are done just BEFORE the camera starts to shake, jitter or distort. The Experience Hendrix version of this material (available on the DVD "Live at the Fillmore East") cuts from a camera shot AFTER the shake or jiggle. 2) The two original cameras had different contrast and brightness settings. The Experience Hendrix version cuts from a dark shot to a hazy light shot without having blended the brightness or contrast to be matching between the two cameras. Here adjustments are made to balance the two cameras together. 3) Some of the Experience Hendrix footage looks to have been partially deteriorated due to improper storage. The source tapes used here (very low gen) appear to have been taken from an earlier transfer of the masters (before the deterioration had taken place).

South Saturn Delta Three Little Bears Gypsy Eyes 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be) Our Lovely Home My Friend All Along The Watchtower Bright Lights Big City Acoustic Jam With Mitch
A small collection of Jimi mainly playing acoustic. This ranges from studio demos to material from jam sessions. The first four tracks are not as widely circulated as the other more well known acoustic Electric Ladyland sessions. Tracks 5 and 6 are from a tape containing various tryouts of numbers and a jam session with Paul Caruso. They have never been circulated before and 'Our Lovely Home' is a new and unheard number. Luckily it can be identified from the lyrics Jimi wrote. Tracks 7 and 8 come from a circulating tape called 'All the ugliness in the world' but they are the only musical fragments on it. The final track is a long acoustic jam with Mitch Mitchell thought to originate from February, just before the start of the US tour in April 1970.
